Our offense is just as predictable as last year. Kelly’s misuse is criminal. The guy needs space so we run him up the gut on obvious run plays? Atrocious. Wtf was that when the d was huddled up on the ready for play. I dont understand why that was called offside instead of a Mo. State td. Does anyone know if that was the right call? Why even were we huddled at the sideline during live play? Really bad unforced error.

I remember a play during Brady Hoke’s tenure while his job was still in jeopardy where our defense was looking at the sideline when the ball was snapped. They realized it was live as the ball sailed over their heads for a wide open td catch. This reminded me of that.

Pretty sure the right call was made but Neu needs to explain just wth was going on. Somehow I think Lynch had a hand in this 🤔

A win is a win, but it was not pretty! Cards were lucky on the 2nd pick 6 getting called back and would have put us down 21-7 in 3Q. A few observations - 1. Rush defense was better than I expected. 2. Semonza was solid 3. Kelly usage is a waste, put him at WR if not at DB 4. Neu's questionable 4th down calls that could have us cost the game 5. While it is too early, but I see a 4-5 win season. (MO St, Central, Kent, & Buffalo)?

I'm sure the game plan was altered on offense. Good to see Pickett and Gillie step up. Any update on the injuries?

This one was in the category we see too often, a win, but one that was flawed. Not as good as we wanted, but we covered the spread, and maybe because of the chaos, it wasn't a boring game... Some excuse since it was a first game. And as someone said we might have called a little different game with top receivers on the field. Still, MoSt was perhaps the equal of bottom MAC teams and it wasn't any great news to win.

I'm happy with how the kids played. They coaches decision making is a real problem.

This was game 1 of year 9 for this Head Coach. The types of mistakes our coaching staff continue to make are inexcusable entering year 9. At the same time, our administration supports the program at an FCS level, the staff has the team playing competitive at the FCS level.

Just read an article from Athlon Sports "College football team draws embarrassing crowd for Sat. afternoon game". Thought it was about our dismal crowd but was about Florida Atlantic U. and their 30,000 seat stadium. Seems like our fans have voted about our ZZZQuil put you to sleep football schemes.

We are reasonably well funded for FCS. Bottom half of bottom tier MAC conference in FBS. With the unfortunate accompanying fact that the MAC schools really can't afford what they spend, and all use a lot of subsidy from student fees to provide a product that in a good year can brag they are good in the MAC. That maybe half of the teams can go to low level bowl games, lose more money, but be on TV
Or, maybe, one year in 10, a MAC team can say "hey it's worth it, we beat ND."
It appears the CFB landscape will change and with luck we'll see FB played long term, but at a less expensive lower level. With our budget, that is not a lock.

Some in-game observations: - During our first FG attempt (beginng of 2Q), the center took an incredibly long time to snap the ball. BSU froze their own kicker who missed badly.
- With their caliber of play, Mo State should've never have scored over 28 points on us. We should not have scored less than 45 points.
- BSU had a 4th and 1 situation in 2Q, and a 4th and 3 in the 3Q. Sloan got stopped & Semonza was sacked. Why did BSU not have Spegal in there. That's his wheelhouse.
Some game day observations: The athletic department has decided to put food trucks in the southeast corner of the stadium for the game. They used to have the food truck in from of the Alumni Center before the games. - 1st problem, it was a 2:00 pm kickoff. Nobody could buy food before the game because there are no pass outs once you enter the stadium.
I know a lot of folks griill out at tailgates, but some of us don't want to haul in a grill and supplies, so we rely on concessions that are outside of the stadium so we can eat before the game starts. - If I remember during the 2000's, they tried food trucks in the SE corner before, thinking it would be a draw for students. It didn't, and there were no students in
line to but $11 pulled pork bowls or $7 ice cream. The idea only lasted a couple of years. - Used to be a pizza truck in front of the Alumni Center that sold very good large pepperoni pizzas for $15. It did not return for this year.
- The last few years, there have been separate beer stands from food concessions. The lines moved fairly well. This year, beer is being sold in the food concession
booths. To get a beer, you have to wait with all of the food orders in much longer lines (cheaper food than the food trucks). - There used to be a standalone beer tent in the northwest corner of the stadium. Lines moved very quickly. It is no longer there, replaced by a donut stand selling 2
donuts for $6 ($36 per dozen). - Guardian Brewing has a licensing agreement with Ball State as the official beer of BSU Athletics. They brew the Charlie Cream Ale and the cans used to have the
Dancing Charley logo on the cans. NO MORE!! The cans of Charlie Cream Ale are now just plain cardinal red. Seems that BSU does not want the logo on beverages?
Another group, Hi & Mighty, makes a seltzer called Chirp Chirp Cherry. The can has a cherry character wearing a Dancing Charley baseball cap. Seems that's OK. Butler is using them to create Butler version of a seltzer. They seem to see the value of brand recognition.

It looks like we had around 5000 total - pretty disappointing for the 1st game and great weather.

Attendence given as 10,086 by BSU. I never know if that is the total of tickets sold or people that they counted coming in. But it is the official count.

I heard some food trucks that were scheduled did not show up. As far as attendance.... Well, people are just not excited by BSU football. I think there was a collective "we need a change" after last season and when it didn't happen people are feeling like they have better things to do. Even on a absolutely perfect day for football. Could be the best weather we have all season for home games.
