Iu is damned good and it makes me want to puke. But, it’s a prime example of coaching matters. As we’ve seen, we’ve not had the coaching…..

IU has great alumni base, budget, made commitment to put new money into FB. Not that they neglected BB. Good coach, good (not great) pay for B10, he brought coaches and players, used money judiciously in portal. We don't have the options IU does. Don't hold breath for same story here.

This coach will be hard to keep if this is not a fluke year.
If he beats tOSU and goes to the CFP, maybe gone this year.
He's getting a bump in pay whatever happens.

We can still find someone who can coach. There are really good coaches out there not even making what Mike does. Just need the AD to make a really solid choice.

Hopefully we get good coach WITH staff. Maybe a few good players to replace lost recruits.
THEN good luck in the portal. We won't have much NIL like IU.

Cignetti will be at West Virginia next year. That’s where he played. They’ll come after him and IU will go back to being worthless.

Big money with turn around needed. IF IU extends, guarantees, AND he thinks he can continue this run, then think what he could demand in another year or two. Then he's a candidate anywhere. Now a turnaround gamble for a program with better than just good money.

as for me, I hope Ohio State blows them off the field by 40 points. Don’t like IU. never did. No way, no how could I ever cheer for IU - ever!

No idea what the money situation is there but I doubt its bottomless like a Florida State. But they will probably target Deion, but if not, they might pursue Cignetti, who is a proven winner. Several other high profile jobs are coming open as well. It'll come down to, does he think he can compete for a national championship at IU, is it a one shot deal this year, or does he feel he's done the best he can at IU already and wants to go really big time. Michigan might even come open. Not going well up there. I think he's got a pretty sweet deal at IU. Would not be surprised if he stays there.

That depends on how his IU contract was written, but typically IU would still be responsible for the part of his salary PSU doesn't cover.

He may view IU as his retirement gig. Having said that, he'll very likely get to experience heavy roster turnover (the other side of poaching, which he willfully took place in this year) after this year and may realize he needs to continue to move up the food chain. And you're right - several high profile opportunities will open up at the end of this season.
