For those interested in schedules, check out the U of A schedule. Saw this in the AZ Star today. If We were a premier national program and this was our home schedule, how would we react?
The UA's 2016-17 nonconference basketball home schedule is now complete. Here are the nine opponents in order of appearance: College of Idaho, Chico State, Cal State Bakersfield, Bucknell/ Northern Colorado and/ or Sacred Heart/Norfolk State, Texas Southern, UC Irvine, Grand Canyon and New Mexico.

That is soft, especially for UA's level.

Yeah it's soft but they don't need a quality out of conference schedule to boost their year-end RPI and tournament possibilities. It's a completely different scenario. Besides it's Sean Miller, what do you expect ?

Yes, but based on discussions here, you need a decent pre season competition to prepare you for conference play, and in their case a high seeding in the tourney. Not sure what road games they will play. That may balance the schedule. All I know is the paper was critical of this list. I'm sure Miller knows what he's doing to adequately prepare his team. I think he's one of the best.

True, UA will be ranked high regardless and their conf schedule is if course much tougher than ours.

A tougher schedule shown hereThat story shows that on April 6 Arizona's 2016-17 nonconference schedule had two openings still to be determined, and UA had lined up: Nov. 11 Michigan State at Honolulu TBA Las Vegas Invitational game at McKale Center* TBA Las Vegas Invitational game at McKale Center* Nov. 24 Santa Clara, at Las Vegas Invitational Nov. 25 Vanderbilt/Butler, at Las Vegas Invitational No. 30 Texas Southern Dec. 3 Gonzaga, at Los Angeles Dec. 6 UC Irvine Dec. 10 at Missouri Dec. 14 Grand Canyon Dec. 20 New Mexico So, I am not sure what your source is but this is more credible at first glance since normally there would be 12-14 preseason games and high majors do include a mix of teams but play other high majors for the gate and TV exposure. So, check that source out.

Besides it's Sean Miller, what do you expect ? It is a different world, but the high majors want national exposure and TV revenue, and their NCAA seed is a factor of SOS more than at our level. For us it is in or out, and SOS may not mean much except maybe for the NIT bid in a marginal case.

Got it. Home schedule is a little weak, but should not disappoint fans too much, they have the big games coming in conference.
