Yeah sure 00hmh, Calhoun was a real drag on the offense. You can't be serious. I don't see a single young guy on this team who can adequately replace him much less transcend his play. He had nine double-doubles this season. That's not what I said. We'll miss him. We were talking about using quickness to score. But as much as we miss Bo, we will miss him a lot more on the defense and on the boards than on offense. He scored some in the post but his scoring near the basket often came on inside passing from Franko or Moses and he was not a player who attacked the basket with the ball on the move. That, and maybe on quick moves to the offensive boards and more quick cuts to the basket, are areas where Teague, Hollywood, Mallers could be used to greater advantage. Remember, Bo had his greatest impact by hitting 3's (often late in the clock) and he might have been more a post up player than his replacements will be (although we don't do that much), but overall, we will find offense to replace him. I hardly see how slow guys are suddenly going to get quicker now that Bo is gone. Teague may be somewhat more athletic, but loses the size advantage Bo had. You are going to have a hard time selling Mallers and Hollywood as quick athletic improvements.

You are going to have a hard time selling Mallers and Hollywood as quick athletic improvements. As I said, we are going to see Sellers, Tyler and Moses use their quickness a little more. They are all reasonably quick and athletic for their position. Teague is MUCH more athletic than Bo, and we were talking quickness, no doubt he loses something in the strength department. Mallers and Hollywood will not likely be big factors but both are more versatile players than Bo. Our overall team quickness is greater when you consider that Tyler and Sellers played limited minutes for half the season, and we replace a fairly slow player in Bo with quicker more athletic players. So slow guys like Davis and Smith (neither used quickness much) are replaced in minutes by Persons who may be no quicker but who is aggressive with the ball. Bo is replaced by a quicker player. Moses who is quick for a big man in the MAC plays more minutes. I am not claiming a great change, but there is a change. The most important thing will be that we need to play our screening game more like we did the last half than the first half of the season. Overall, we do not need a great change, we need to recognize that when our screening game is overplayed you use the back cut and the ball handler going to the basket. That does not require ANY change in personnel, just play basketball better with the players you have. Our recruiting is adding quickness based on who our targets are, so the staff is making intelligent moves to address a relative weakness.
