The look on his face though A mug shot is never very flattering. The other cases reported were pretty egregious misuse of the computer system. In one way I hope this is a serious one, since I hate the idea of the thought police looking over everybody's shoulder on a university computer. Nobody can think that child porn is anything but an abuse, but I will have some reservation and be cautious about condemning the guy until we know more details. But we probably sure don't want to know them all... |

I dont know how child porn works is it possible that the guy or anyone else could have just been looking at some regular porn and somehow got to a child porn page? Can this accidently happen and is that illegal? Or is this something that was saved to a file and or memstick/flashdrive etc.

In neither of the other two cases was that really a credible explanation. But besides relatively innocently arriving at a porn site, and then finding child porn, for that matter, it could be material downloaded in the background by some kind of malware, or images distributed to a University computer through email or other means, and the owner could be not even aware the images are there. But, I have some trust in the BSU IT that it is more than that. Downloading and distributing material, as was done in the other cases is clearly not innocent behavior. I just won't condemn the guy until we see more, as you suggest it is easy enough to imagine browsing the internet and ending up in the wrong spot. |

Yea Porn on the old work computer is just a common sense no no.. On the other hand we have all been bored and started browsing when all of sudden all kind of stuff starts popping up out of no where. I am sure this guy is probably as guilty as they come though

Yeah but how many of us have actually downloaded any of that crap. To be honest I have never seen any child porn whether through an e-mail or net sight. You have to search that stuff out.
