I'm sure it's just a coincidence that this summer-long sabbatical happened just after the lengthy contract extension, and just another stray coincidence that we apparently had no visits over the summer, and a further coincidence that we are losing targets to the likes of Drake and Loyola.
This is simply a random pattern of unrelated events with no logical link of any kind.

Halftime is such a witty guy! So classy! So supportive! Such an overall winner! A true delight!
You want to bet like u did last year where you lost?
I say we will win 22 or more total wins with a tougher schedule?
I will take on Halftime and all comers?
I should get a lot of action on this one.

Seems even more likely that once again Ball State has an issue with answerable professionalism.

Why? Because you always believe the worst possible interpretation of any event?
Or in this case, rumored event, and probably not only that, but a very weakly supported assumption of causal relationship between multiple rumored events about which we know very little.

The man said on the radio he was barely in Indiana once his kids school let out in May. Not sure how much more concrete than that. He also said it doesn't matter how strong we are with recruits if we can't close the deal.

Not sure how much being in California all summer would have kept him from being in contact with the recruits. Did the assistants go to California too? Also, my oldest daughter lives in China and I have more communication with her now than when she was at Ball State, and we lived under the same roof! Texting and Skype, and WeChat (much better than Skype for communicating with people in China) make it almost like she lives across town.

He also said it doesn't matter how strong we are with recruits if we can't close the deal. And. Did he say he was unprofessional and after he signed a big contract he decided to take a "leave" and neglect in an "unprofessional" manner his job, or that he was not here at any point he needed to be, or that that his absence had anything to do with any kid signing with Drake or Loyola, or that the AD had been unprofessional? Did he share any personal or other reason for his absence? There is a lot being read into the very meager facts know here. I object strongly at this point to making unwarranted slurs about our program, coach and AD. I don't think you are doing that directly, or that RMC is, both of you are just reporting what you know, which is interesting, but you are very close here to defending others who have made slurs, and I see no challenge to that, instead arguing with me about something I had not expressed much doubt about, but challenged the interpretation given and the conclusion drawn. If somebody wants to say they are worried that absence from campus hurt, that is fine. Sure, It could be a very mild problem. But, even that is a debatable point in summer, where and as I have pointed out, not only can he do the real heavy lifting of recruiting in travel and contact with recruits without sitting in his office, but the idea that he couldn't be here when/if needed is just not true.

Well if that's your standard then hardly anyone ever needs to go into the office again. It's not a question of basic communication.

He is running an entire men's basketball program, not just contacting recruits. Good Lord, is the world really this hard to understand ?

Well if that's your standard then hardly anyone ever needs to go into the office again. That is total non sequitur. Summer, off season, a University. One would expect quite a bit absence, anyway. Or, I might say that in that circumstance maybe a basketball coach in fact doesn't have to be in the office that much in summer, that would be a fair statement. What is not fair is leveling a charge of likely unprofessional behavior after interpreting the very few facts know in the worst possible light.

I don't see anything nefarious. I simply find it unusual for a D1 HC to be away from his program THAT long. Could be zero impact. Who knows.

Like I said pages ago this could be normal procedure for a college coach I don't know. I do know that previous coaches stayed here during the summers. Even the one whos name we will not mention. It may or may not hurt recruiting but it makes me think he just doesn't want to be here in Muncie. Again maybe that does not matter either who knows
