Jeremy Hazelbaker was picked up off waivers by the Diamondbacks 11/5. He hit .235 with 12 homers for the Cards this past season. Hopefully he can get more than the 200 at bats he got with the Cards next season.

Good for him. I was thoroughly disappointed in the way the Cardinals chose to use Hazelbaker. He would have been much better served getting 500 ABs in Triple A and playing every day than being forgotten at the end of the 25-man roster.

Cardinals picked him up as nothing more than a fill in minor leaguer to play AA or AAA. He hit so well in the spring & they had injuries he made the team. He hit as a pinch hitter so as long as he did that they tried to keep him in in St Louis. He is to old for them to have him in their plans for the outfield at 29 & that was why they released him. It was apparent from his lack of at bats in September he was not someone they wanted.
Also noted that former BSU player Dean Anna who spent the past 2 seasons as the 2nd baseman at Memphis (St Louis AAA team) was released at the end of the PCL season. They quit playing him in late August & with his birthday this week he turns 30. He will have a hard time getting a shot with anyone although he has been a good AAA player for past 5 seasons.

Big week for Hazelbaker. He either hits this week or is looking at starting in AAA. He got his average up to .208 yesterday with a 2 for 2. He also threw out a runner at home. If he doesn't hit a homer this week or .300 for the week it will be tough to say yea he deserves to be kept.

Dbacks roster announcement on their official site states Jeremy made team as last position player because he can play all 3 outfield positions. He hopefully will hit in the season. He ended spring training at .182 with no homers & 5 rbis.

Jeremy is off to a good start. Game 1 as pinch runner scores tying run, Game 2 as ph gets walk, & game 3 as ph hits double driving in lead run & later scores. Game 4 as ph singles drives in a run. He is now leading dbacks in hitting batting a cool 1.000.
