This sort of marketing ploy is such a transparent manipulation and money grab from the fanbases, I always amazed that adults go for it. Yes, when I see a business selling products to eager customers I get pissed off too. Who the hell do they think they are producing goods others want and are willing to pay for?

JMU favored by 20.5, with a -1200 money line. Yikes.

WKU takes the lead over Toledo in the 4th quarter. Which goes against everything I’ve ever understood about football. WKU has a goofy cartoon monster thing that looks like a McDonald’s character on their helmets. How the heck are they handling the ridicule from the Toledo players?

Central only averaged 9.6 yds/play. Held them under 10 The junk silver lining.

When we scored that TD I had never been more sure that we were going to give up a TD in my life. Wish I was in Vegas.

I’m worried about a midseason change. The Ball State thing to do here is make a change with 4 games left and have the interim do better than expected. Then we’ll have to suffer through 6-7 years of that.

How do you not run your route past the line to gain on 4th down. Good lord.

I’ve never understood how Oregon wins games. I mean a Duck? That’s not intimidating at all. Like if I was playing against LSU, I would spend the entire game looking over my shoulder in fear of being eaten by a tiger. Props to Oregon for somehow winning despite having a cartoon bird as a mascot. Maybe some day we’ll figure out how to do it.

Well, as I said, in the context of this thread, I am bringing up the student fee scam because I think it renders moot a lot of the worrying over different factors supposedly threatening MAC football that we see mentioned here and in other recent threads. The ability to take money from the students is a super power that MAC football has that makes it invulnerable to ordinary financial considerations. I bring this up to reassure football supporters whose minds seem troubled, because I'm such a nice guy. And, as I have also said, often I comment on MAC "FBS football" because it's so transparently sleazy and stupid that I find humor in it. So there's that. For what it's worth, I see the humor to be found, you've just ridden it into the ground here. Nate Bargatze cracks me up, but if I picked out his best joke and watched it once a month for 20 years I'd stop laughing. If you went and posted your point on the MAC message board, I would view the fall-out from that as must-read content.

Yeah but think it through. Suppose you are so convincing that every poster on the board says "because of Sherman's convincing arguments, I'm never going to another game and I am going to withdraw whatever financial support I was providing." It's not like that will be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Now there will be just that much more cost for the students to pick up. So the best case scenario for your drumbeat of repetitive posts here is that the poor, helpless, trod-upon students that you care so very deeply about get more fees shoved upon them. Your only logical option is to take your complaints to the appropriate parties. If you insist on making your point to people who don't have the power to change anything even if you can convince them you're right, I'd point out that there is a MAC-specific message board that would probably love to hear your interesting take on things. mac.csnbbs.comWouldn't this line of thinking eliminate about 80% of the posts on these boards? I don't think, for example, that Mike Neu is monitoring this board for advice on his offense, but yet there is a lot of it here. No it wouldn't. Using your example, most of the discussion is about specific and evolving issues with the offense. E.g. "we got a new OC, but the offense sure looks the same" or "Miami was really shutting down [fill in the blank] so we should have tried [fill in the blank] instead." While discussions may follow regular themes, the underlying facts change, and the discussion changes with them. You've basically just been posting "football is a scam that is fleecing the students" for like 20 years. We get it. If someone posted the exact same specific criticism of Mike Neu ad nausem for the past 9 years at some point I'd be telling him to go straight to Mike too. It's the repetition of the exact same point that I'm talking about.

Then also, as I have explained, MAC football is so VERY stupid and hopeless that it is an absolutely irresistible target for smart ass remarks. Yeah but think it through. Suppose you are so convincing that every poster on the board says "because of Sherman's convincing arguments, I'm never going to another game and I am going to withdraw whatever financial support I was providing." A lot of things that would seem to be obviously not viable would actually be quite viable if you had a group of patsies from whom you could extract $10million+ per year to keep the thing going. MAC football HAS such a group of patsies. Furthermore, this group of patsies has access to government subsidized loans to cover their increased costs. So, you can go on and on about how bad MAC football is from a competitive perspective, how pathetic their game attendance is, the ridiculous time slots they have to take to get their games televised, the increasing costs and deficits, the ludicrous and obscure bowls they qualify for, the new disadvantages brought about by NIL and transfers, etc. etc. etc. MAC football's ability to reach into the pockets of MAC school students for "fees", overcomes all this. This source of money has been sufficient to cover each programs losses even as they crested above $10 million a year. If you predict the demise of FBS MAC football, you need to explain to me how this source is going to dry up. Serious question, does making this point ever get boring for you? Especially since just about everyone here gets it? Every time you feel the urge to make this point, you should do it in a letter to your governmental representatives or to the school administration. It won't accomplish anything, but at least you'd be talking to people who had the power to accomplish something if you could convince them.
