Anyone with serious coin and any connection to BSU is already on someones prospect list. I have it on good authority that if someone's given some they both have and are willing to give more.

A great number of college players really Suck as people. Only loyalty is to themselves. It’s so obvious they are not there for a degree, just want to play sports. All think their going to be in the NBA or NFL, do they not understand there odds are very, very, very small of reaching this goal! I’m about ready to say good bye to these losers. Feel sorry for the few who just want to play the game for the games sake, as well as the fans who think these guys really care about their university. Like this group to much to just sign off, but it’s getting to the point it’s no longer fun. Add that to the constant losing seasons and lack of leadership/interest from the University leadership and we’ll… Sorry, but this statement just doesn't sit well with me. How do you know these kids (and that's what they are) suck as people? Many are from small means and families without a lot. Many have had really rough backgrounds. The NCAA and coaches have been swimming in cash for decades. Coaches are being bought out for millions of dollars to just go away when they fail. But, these student athletes are the bad guys because they have a chance to make some $$ and in some cases some pretty real money especially for kids who grew up poor? Listen, as a 40-year fan and supporter I don't like it either but the students didn't create this system they're just living in it. It's up to Ball State to decide whether they are going to compete and I'm not sure they will get into the arms race which is what sucks. Like it or not, this is the market and it's not the players fault for participating in the system, especially given our record and futility. I also have a feeling if a billionaire showed up and funded us giving the entire current roster the boot and bringing in top tier talent there wouldn't be too many objections that the school wasn't loyal enough to [fill in the blank with any player buried on the bench].

Him saying I am leaving the door opened for a return really leaves out anything but money as a reason for leaving. PT check Best friend Back check Good enough core check Since he is open to coming back hes not pissed so its not a lewis issue check Whats left? The other kind of check with tge numbers on it I think we should all take a vote on who the biggest fan on the board is and whoever wins cuts $50k for this. Rob has my vote.

Fort Wayne lost to Norfolk State in the CIT championship. Indiana State lost to Seton Hall in the NIT championship. Purdue underdogs to UConn in the NCAA championship.

So the ISU model is the best we can aspire to? Instead of having a mediocre year and half the team leaving piecemeal, we can have an outstanding year and the coach packages himself and entire team to go to the next level. Either way, we are screwed for anything past 12 months. Doesn't really give one much of a reason to be a fan of a mid-major basketball program anymore. I'd be thrilled to death for that to happen. If we could have the really good year and loose everyone, so be it. Regardless of the coach loss and player losses, look at all the publicity, positivity and attention they've gotten. Even if what you are saying happens, it will take a few years for that excitement and interest to wear off. 2009 burned off the 2008 football excitement pretty fast. You can backslide, but not too much.

All I see is 2008 BSU football. Incredible season ending with losing the most important games and losing the coach. If they replace Schertz with a guy who has an overwhelmingly losing record as a head coach they’ll complete the car exploding as it lands in the ravine.

Well, UMASS will drive the rest of the MAC to recruit better (and hopefully invest better) if we want to keep up. I don't see this. I doubt any other MAC coach is thinking they don't have to go for the best they can get since all they currently have to do is compete with Akron and Toledo. I think every coach would put together an NBA roster every year if they could. Whether UMass will dominate I think is a fair question. I don't think they are that much better than the top of our conference, but we'll see. What I'm really curious about is if we're a 1-bid league for the next 3 years and UMass takes that spot each year, will I have matured enough in that time frame not to go back and call out everyone who argued in favor of this move? I doubt it, but only time will tell...

ISU looked like us at the end of that game. And they paid the price we're used to paying for it.

I am really worried about next basketball season. If things continue on their current trajectory, I wont even get to enjoy an October full of optimism.

Oh, and we also have an AD that won’t accept a check from an alumnus, get off his ass and walk down the hall to get it to the appropriate personnel. What’s that story?

That doesn't pass the sniff test at all simply because, as ujim said, they could do a whole lot better for that money. Yeah, nobody would ever mismanage money like that.

There's no doubt ISU got screwed by the NCAA selection committee, but the question is "Are they better off playing in the NIT?" Not sure how the financials compare, but ISU has had a favorable NIT position. As one of the first four out of the NCAA they get an automatic No. 1 see in the NIT, which guaranteed them home games as long as they were winning until the final four. The NCAA sure would have dicked them by giving them a 11-12 seed. They might have made a run but likely no more than 1-2 games. Yeah I had the same thought. I’d rather win the NIT than be a first round exit like Drake was.

I went to the semi final tonight and I am officially jealous of ISU. The fieldhouse was packed and I’d estimate it was 90%+ ISU fans. It was electric and ISU is a very good team. They very rarely force a stupid shot. Night and day between us and them right now. And I dont think Sparks alone is going to move the needle enough. We need some guards ASAP.

Let’s get Sellers back too. And Jacobs probably needs a masters degree, right?
