We have signed two new defensive backs this month. First in July was DB Terin Solomon 5'11" 180 Jr. from Riverside California JC. He also redshirted at Oregon State 2012. Then yesterday it was announced S Kyle Lewis 6'1" 210 Jr. from West Los Angeles Jr. College in California was on the team. He had attended Washington and redshirted there in 2012.
I am happy to see the junior college previews on both show them as extremely athletic. Surprisingly Lewis was listed both in high school and at W Los Angeles as a running back although he also was also listed as a DB. I note he is bigger than the current running backs and was listed at 220 pounds in some of the articles I read today.

A 220 pound head hunter at strong safety? ''Go ahead and throw it, make my day''.

Checked Washington Football 2011 Lewis was on scholarship and quit school in September, 2011 and did not see game action. He was the winner in 2010 of Nike SPARQ in Long Beach which included 1200 participants which was based on five physical abilities. His 40 time was 4.42, 100 10.7 and vertical jump was 38". He was wanting to go to UCLA which preferred him as a DB and not a running back in May, 2011 but did not get in. He then signed in July 2011 with Washington as a RB. Oregon also wanted him as RB but the problem with all three was getting him qualified for admission.
Solomon's time at Oregon State was even less than that. He was considered a 3 star prospect by 247 sports when he signed his scholarship in February 2012. He went to summer school at OSU and quit the school before the start of fall practice started in 2012.

How can you not like a little size in the defensive backfield? Make sure these kids go to class, stay healthy, and play some ball for us. Welcome to Ball State guys.

The vast majority of the JUCO kids can do the work, sometimes they just need supervision...Go to class and study table.

This guy is dynamic and had GPA listed as 3.2 on hudl (accuracy??). Love how the coaching staff are filling these roster holes as they come available to keep our program at a high level. Will be interested to see how our new RB and DBs perform in the MAC compared to West Coast JUCO schools.
