Tom Crean would do well here. Doubt that he would drop all the way to the mid major level. He made three million dollars last year.

Would you guys consider Fife? I'd take Groce for sure. No one on the current staff.
Here's the deal. Bsu needs to make A HUGE commitment now. This needs to be an alarm. A wake up call. That whit would leave NOW for a bad job that 3 other guys turned down is a big red flag for bsu. If we don't pony up it'll be more of the same.
Another thought: I don't trust our ad to run a good search and make a good hire. He's not set the world on fire internally.

I'd take the hell out of Dane Fife! If he was looking at the Duquesne job he clearly wants to get another head coaching job, BSU is better set up for success than they were, and Fife's got history in the state that should help him recruit the area. Add in the fact that he's spent the last 6 years learning under Tom Izzo and he's a solid candidate if we could get him. Some folks (delusional) are pushing Fife for the Iu job. I think our job would be a good step for him.

I would find it very surprising. If averaging 13.5 wins for 4 seasons, with the schedule we have played, winning nothing "outright", merits a promotion then I miss the boat. If it's true, I feel for the players who bought his bill of goods.

Much as IU loves Fife, he's not getting that job unless EVERYONE turns it down.

Kind of like Whit. But no way in hell does he have the resume to get a move up yet. I see progress in the MAC competetivness but I would think that any AD could see through the fluff schedule. Maybe this was all part of his exit strategy.

I mis-read the tweet and thought it said IU was interested, I was wrong. Still it'd be an interesting duo. Woodson knows what the NBA is looking for in players, and Brown knows what the NCAA is looking for in violations!

As I mentioned in a previous post, Whitford has never made a connection with the community, alums, boosters and most importantly the fans (including students). I'm sure the appeal of living in a large city, A-10 school, more money and ultimately a more metro area lifestyle is a draw. His ex-wife lived in L.A. and now Chicago. When married they lived in Cincinnati and Tucson, both metro areas. It's a better fit for him and he's leaving the program in much better shape than he found it. Perhaps his successor will be able to recruit some legit bigs. That was Whitfords weakness by far.

Fife was said to be in advanced talks with them this afternoon and suddenly withdrew. Or, is whit making a salary play w bsu?
