We trailed 21-7 going into the second quarter, so no. But, we did play pretty well after that point. We can't get down 21-7 against niu and expect to win though.

I would like to see the coaches open up the play book and throw some new plays in NIU's face, I want to see the team having fun playing tough football and find a way to WIN!! It seems like we have been so close to a win but find a way to lose, lets find a way to WIN! This will be my 5th year watching them play NIU and we came up on the short end every year. Will this year be different? I hope so!

Rachel you are preaching to the choir! Many of us on here have been frustrated with the limited play book. As I said before, take off the training wheels! Let's let it fly and see what happens. Yes there will mistakes but at this point the hell with it. We ain't gonna win any games 13-10

This team has nothing to lose so they might as well risk it all and go for it. I would rather lose trying everything we can than to do the same thing and lose. Its like our offense doesnt have the swagger it did a few years ago and I want to see that again, I want to see the players playing to win not just repeating the same plays series after series. Ok I should stop, Im not bad mouthing anyone I have nothing but respect for the coaches and players so I dont want this to sound bad or negative because I support all of them I just want to see them step out of the comfort zone.

Honestly, Pete needs to say "screw it, I'm 0-fer against this team already, what do I have to lose?" and just go wild. Onside kicks, fake punts, halfback passes, just throw all caution to the wind and play mind games with them. We're not going to out-macho these guys and beat them at their game; might as well mess around and have fun.
I know that won't happen and we'll see our usual three-yard slants on 3rd and 4.

This defense isn't going to hold anyone under 20 the rest of the season. Hell maybe not even under 28 most games. We have the talent to score...just gotta go for it. I can see this team getting to 6-7 wins or staying right where they are. All depends on what the offer several does. We know what we have defensively. We haven't seen what a full offense cab do yet. Go Cards

Trust me when I say your not saying anything different than we have all said amongst ourselves. Our offense has grown stagnant and seems to rely on the same 5 plays every game. If you can see it and know whats coming so does every D coordinator from here on out.. Time to just open it up and let them play. If Neal makes mistakes so be it three yards and a cloud of dust is not going to win any games

Agree we need to open a bit. Just can't go crazy because he won't have a grasp of what he needs to do. I think he's smart and good enough to handle a lot more. What that means, I'm not sure. He needs to have a grasp as to what he can do though. Can't have stupid turnovers. He just needs to be more accurate for us to win.
I think we break the curse this weekend.
