All I have said is if we are out of contention for a bowl ad have nothing to play for Why not take advantage of a new rule and let the young kids(future) gain much needed experience. There is a downside.
I can see some advantage to getting some reps, for the young QB. Good point. BUT.
At least two problems.
Basically, is it best for the development of the team and the rest of the players?
I am not so sure that is best for the rest of the young guys who benefit from playing with a vet QB, running plays we have designed and chosen as our best shot to win. After all, the two QB's are different in their abilities and as a result do not play the same way. Presumably the objective is to be better next year, and it may interrupt the progress toward getting these guys on the same page, and while helping Paddock, might take away from that overall goal at least slightly.
The other issue is that the team, including the upperclassmen, would have to view this as in some sense "giving up" and that is never good for performance.
And that result would reduce the benefit for the young QB who would be playing for a team that is not giving it all. Garbage time is worth something but not as much as if the QB was a true challenger for the position and the team viewed it that way, as an attempt to get better play.
If Neal is stinking it up, which he really is not, the situation would be different on both counts, we'd be going for the change in style, NOT to perfect the Neal version of the offense, and the team would be motivated to rally around a kid stepping in and still 100% trying to win, not just trying to improve for some future date when Paddock would take over reins, probably more than a year away.

You’re over thinking it.
Besides, rob wants Riley sent back to Yorktown for seasoning.

And to his credit, Rob really is thinking outside the box.

Absurd fan ideas are what message boards are for. I believe that is somewhere in the Proboards terms of service. It is good to recognize it periodically.
Hats off to your public service message.

Yep there is some downside but really if the players on the field have guided us to 2-3 wins.. Why worry about the downside

What would be really good is if Neu could find more and better ways to maximize Riley’s skills while we have him. Okay, I'll be THAT guy: what if he's already maximizing Riley's skills? Maybe he's just not as good as everyone seems to think he could be. Don't get me wrong, I want him to be the NFL prospect opposing coaches keep saying he is in their pre-game pressers, but have we seen any sign of that against anything other than mediocre competition?

Well, I have considered that but want to believe there’s more performance in there that hasn’t been shone yet. But I’m just not sure.

Riley certainly has some areas where he needs some improvement. One glaring weakness as I see it so far this year is that the passing game is non-existent in the red zone. Although that is not entirely his fault, part of that failure has to fall on Riley.

Great point and I would expand on it but I am afraid I would be called more names.. Ill let someone else handle the response

Rob also wants paddock to start for the colts next Sunday. Screw the colts but if Pitsburg loses tonight I am willing to make a trade for Paddock

Great point and I would expand on it but I am afraid I would be called more names.. Ill let someone else handle the response Chicken. I mean I guess one could say look at his career record. Is it because he is snake bitten and playing on bad teams. Have injuries to others caused this record? HIs stats look good but what have those stats accomplished in terms of wins and losses.. Hows that?

Yep there is some downside but really if the players on the field have guided us to 2-3 wins.. Why worry about the downside If there was a big upside, that would make more sense. I just hate to see a coach give it up for a season. Don't think that is fair to any other player, especially seniors.
And I want to beat Miami if at all possible.
