I love Ball State football, but in the last 40 years:
we have had 2 10+ win seasons. 3 9+ win seasons. 3 conference championships. We had a winless season with Bill Lynch in 1999, which was in the midst of one of the longest losing streaks. We are 0-7 in Bowl Games.
This year is not a surprise, but it is very disappointing non the less. The fact is that we just are not and have not been good at football. I hope one day that will change, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon.
Happy Friday everyone!

Well if Neu does get axed at least we have a couple years of hope before the never ending cycle repeats

There was a time, in the early years of our joining the MAC through 2000, where any player who played for the Cards for four years played on a MAC Championship team. IMO, that is where we should be. Since the start of division play, except for 2008 when we played in the MAC Championship game in Detroit, we have not been at that level (maybe Winning’s senior year). The past three years having been really bad. Neu was a great Cardinal QB. However, that does not mean he should be a great coach. You would like to think that he would man up to it and urge that Ball State seek a more qualified coach - go out with the class he showed as a player. Would any of us have that type of courage?

I fully admit in the first 3 years of Lembo that Ball State would settle in at the level of say an Ohio, a team that you can consistently count on to break .500 and occasionally be in the mix for a MAC Championship game appearance. Then Lembo had to coach his recruits without Skrosky and that went out the window.

Rushing the field after the WMU game to go 12-0 was and will be the best BSU football moment in my life. I was lucky to be a student then.
