Right back to a three hour tailgate. Wonderful way to treat your indy fans.

Yup got here at 11 and we couldnt get in. I spoke with some people and it seems to be a mess and only the students knew of the change. I did find out that if you become a member on the CVC you can park in the lot next to the stadium and that lot opens at 8 for every home game. If Jalen had another year I would probably do it so we didnt have to wait for the lots to open.

Across the street Cvc lot isn't exactly cheap for a young family AND often a tailgate of three cars all coming from an hour plus away. So what do we get ? Constant confusion parking wise, oh big bonus I am my two girls got to listen to "stick my dick in your ass " for twenty minutes straight. Such a great family environment. I have talked to more people than I care to admit about affordable family parking at games. I encounter nothing but blank stares. I can only imagine others coming and never coming back because of situation over here. Ball state football and game day experience sucks.

I heard the same song and thought wth is going on, I dont have a issue with the kids listening to music but there is a time and a place for that type of music and its not at a tailgate. All I could think of was family weekend next week, I sure hope someone addresses that issue.

While I can imagine that's very frustrating with young children...when you tailgate around 18-22 year olds indulging in alcoholic beverages, it shouldn't be overly surprising that the environment isn't family friendly. And that's hardly unique to Ball State. I'd suggesting aiming for the back corners of the tailgating lot...I've done that with family and grandparents involved and it was plenty family friendly.

Hey you fucking dickhead this thread isn't about college kids itssip I hope the irony of what you were complaining about, and the verbiage you used here...coupled with your grammar isn't lost on anyone. Do you mean the irony of you finding this forum, a place that will likely be visited by no more than two dozen people, to be inappropriate for a single post, contrasted to your acceptance of being publicly subjected to that god awful song on a repeated basis over a few hours ? Hell even without those lyrics that song is fucking horrible, please excuse my language.

I'm not condoning, and never condoned that song being played. I'm not sure what about my post caused that impression from you. I simply made 2 statements: 1. College kids act like college kids. 2. Ball State provides areas that are away from colleges kids and the music, and recommended a place you can go to should you find yourself around college kids acting like college kids.
I went to 18 road games at 15 campuses during my time at BSU. I saw stuff like that constantly... it was the rule, not the exception at 14 of those 15 venues (the exception being Army). I completely understand the frustration of having kids in an environment like that, but it's how Saturdays work everywhere across America. While It definitely would have been nice if someone would've caught that music and asked it be eliminated, that stuff happens hundreds of times a weekend across America, and is hardly a problem unique to our school.

How many of those road games constantly changed the hours of tailgating? And not only that change wouldn't allow somebody to park despite having kids yet we just traveled an hour to get here. That was the point. The music was just a one time topper. I get it -- I actually enjoy the college kids but again the overall argument was about making something better or a better fan experience and your response was the same blank face -- empty suit response that I have come to expect.

I was there at 11am and was told to leave as well. In addition to not being able to get out of the lot due to many people coming in, the cop thought it would be good to take my plate number down. Huge cluster, and another fail by the university. I had no problem letting them know. For a team that sucks and is now 2-5, you would think they would be happy to see people drive up to campus 4 hours before the game to spend their Saturday...

I wasn't there and don't know what had been said in regard to the tailgate timing situation. I agree that if BSU wants fans invested in its team it needs to open up the tailgate lots consistently more than 3 hours in advance. That's very frustrating especially when its not a noon kick. I'm not in disagreement with you, hopefully this is something that will be fixed next year. But in regard to college kids being college kids its a crap shoot at what you're going to do/see. From the 3 IU tailgates I've been to near the student lot, I could comprise a top 10 list of things I've seen there alone that are more offensive than that song. Doesn't make the song right, but does make the song the rule vs. the exception of stuff that goes on in student tailgates.

When I attended a game last year with a friend, his young son and that son's friend, we parked at Northside Middle School ($5). I'm not sure when this lot opens up, and I assume it's not open to full-blown "tailgating” since its part of the public school system. But, if you're just looking to spend some time with kids and family before the game, I doubt anybody would mind if you threw a football around with the kids, had a snack and a nice non-alcoholic drink. Breaking out the keg, grill and canopy would probably be over the line.
Just a thought if that fits what you're looking for. And, it's just as convenient to the stadium as the tailgating lots.

Sorry but when you park in the lot with the students you have to expect things like that. As soon as I started taking my don to games with me it was time to buy a parking pass. Yea its kinda expensive but it is easier in and out and much more family friendly
