After a few days of reflection on the defections, interesting that this trend is hitting us in several sports and what it potentially says about relationships. Grande leaves the women’s basketball program while Persons stays. Neal and Gilbert leave too. All four are high impact players who get plenty of PT and room to roam so to speak. On the surface, you would think a great relationship between coach and player plus on court/field success would equal stay. True with TP not Grande. Brady is a great guy but pretty hard nose and no nonsense. Whitford is quiet and more reflective. I guess my whole point with this is it’s hard to imagine, despite public statements to the contrary, that a senior starter would leave a program if the relationship wasn’t broken or tenuous in some way.

Yeah, barring an exceptional opportunity for a 5th year senior, I tend to agree. But how many relationships aren't tenuous in some way or the other, and in some cases it is possible this easy transfer could require the coach having to "recruit" his players and suck up to them for 4 years after signing them.

I cannot express how happy (maybe not happy) I was to see the AD make mention of the S/C issues. That tells we have one who is paying attention and not sitting on their hands like prior AD's. She is everywhere watching everything. I would not want to cross her A big deal has been made about the weight loss by some of the basketball players and how they have personally taken it upon themselves to get into better shape for the coming season. Why were they in that condition to start with?

The S & C program for men's basketball is a joke. And Whit doesn't seem interested in his guys getting more bulk and strength and isn't going to address the training program. Others within the dept. see the problem. Maybe now that Beth is on it and has publically indicated how lacking the overall S&C program is something will get done.

I was talking with Ash the other night at the game look and I said look at Walton he is the only player that has an ounce of muscle definition on our whole team.. It could be genetics or it could be left over from his time at missouri. Petey Jackson and I were friends by the time he left ball state that dude was ripped.. Not at all heavy but looked big our guys all look soft.. I mentioned earlier seeing Taylor running around neighborhoods way off campus on his own time. It seems like if you really want to get in shape you have to go above and beyond what S and C offers you

I seem to recall reading the Eville coach yelling at his team to go inside because we were SOFT. Not a good sign. I wonder about the game down there & if they will simply drive the lane.

I think right now Calhoun and I could score inside on us. Any well coached team will just keep driving the lane on us till we stop it.

At least he didn't leave us for Rutgers. How sad is it we have to consider that a victory? Kid is really good. A shame we couldn’t keep him.

Can you blame him? Going to a school close to home that is playing for an ACC title. We can't compete with that. No MAC school could.
