Ok...it's time.
I think we know what Lembo teams are like and this "system" doesn't appear to have a happy ending. Clearly the OC and DC positions are over matched, his hires. I, unfortunately, witnessed the A&M game live this year as well as the Go Daddy debacle vs Arkansas St and frankly was embarrassed about the organization of the team and the piss poor results, especially with that much time in between games at the bowl. Without question the most frustrating live experience of my life.
Keep him in admin and move on.That being said...
Why not? Why not strike up conversations with Hoke to gauge interest? Ball U is his alma mater. Get him involved some way. The depth (recruiting weakness...Lembo) could clearly use a boost. I, living in the southeast, never hear any news regarding what he is doing now. One of the highest paid coaches in the MAC isn't exactly chump change these days. Now if we can just get you home boys in Indiana to get off your rumps and computers and support the team by actually going to the games. The attendance appears to be feeble. Another sign the interest is not there due to weak leadership.
Hey AD, are you awake or are you sleeping at the wheel? Let's not wait until we have back to back 4-8 seasons and fall off the face of the earth again. The MACtion is hot now. Procrastination is not the answer.

I am going to say if this season plays out the way it has to date, which if you go by Vegas projections would mean it's very possible we finish 3-9 since we will be underdogs Saturday, @western,@ohio, and @bg and Hoke hasn't accepted a job as a defensive coordinator for a BCS conference school, yes Mark Sandy should absolutely talk to him. If Hoke has taken a job that pays more than $500,000 a year, I don't think it would accomplish much to talk to him.
I don't think it was unreasonable at all to expect the Cardinals to improve from last year and we are about where we were last year if you look at objective power indexes which is below the standard any of us would set for Ball State football (7-8 win seasons consistently perhaps? This is what Lembo and Bill Scholl stated in 2012 was the goal to be a consistent 7-8 game winner and not have peaks and valleys.). We are definitely better offensively, mostly because we waited longer last year to choose the right QB, but we are much worse at defending the pass if you consider what we have seen so far. Outside of Hester, we don't have much in the secondary.
If we turn around and say finish 6-6, by all means I will admit to jumping the gun and I'd be glad to admit it. Pete more than met my expectations years 1-3, even bowl game considered because I'm a bottom line type of fan, not one to nitpick schemes, playcalling, rivals.com recruiting grades etc. I'm not an athlete or coach nor will pretend to be. I am confident too he is running an ethical program too, but by year 5 my expectation wasn't to go from 10-3 to 3-9 in 2 seasons. I could live with a 3-9 season early just live I can live with the early struggles in Whitford's program, but not this far long. And of course moving on from Pete would require a hefty buyout this offseason, so I don't see that happening..yet.
I'm chuckling at the negative comments belitting Hoke's career the last few years here and on bsufans.com when in 2008 people were ready to (figuratively) lynch Gora and Tom Collins for not paying Hoke what he was worth at the time. Now he struggles at a major conference school, in a much more pressure packed environment than Ball State, an environment that Rich Rod also failed in, and now some of you are saying the guy is simply some mediocre coach who just rode Nate Davis's coattails. I didn't see anyone saying 7 years ago, "good riddance, Hoke was an overrated, average coach anyways. See ya!" Of course any talented qb like Davis is going to make a coach look more intelligent. I'm pretty sure Wenning made Lembo look like a better coach since he showed signs of being the long term answer under Parrish. Or are we just going to hold that against Hoke just to support an argument?
In summary, if we finish 3-9 or 4-8 and Hoke is still only employed with Sirius XM I would be thrilled if Sandy reached out to him. But I say hold the phone in the office until now because sometimes seasons change course.
