Because of Mike's BSU ties, personality and hard work, I doubt there is a poster on this site that doesn't root for him to succeed this year.
That being said (hate that phrase), the results have to be significantly different to merit additional administration support. RC and CF write what the rest of us would rather not believe and that is where we stand.
Late November and early December threads will surely be sounding boards for "who is out there" and "how much money".

I was excited when he was hired. But it’s mostly been a trainwreck and his OC and DC hires are just bad.

I'm going with "marked improvement" this year. Mike is a coach who, I think most can agree, we'd love our son to play for. He's a great ambassador for BSU, AND, he hasn't gotten results...yet. With football, this should be the year to see improvement. I'm not going to speculate on "what if we don't"..... I'm with Mills----it's March; no reason to not be optimistic!

I can’t see any scenario where we’ actually get better and show development worthy of Neu keeping his job. I do not see anyway it can happen based on what I have seen the last two years.. I think its six wins or he is gone only other scenario is having 5 wins with the losses being close.. Close means we are in several one score games with a chance to win. This also needs to happen with an emerging QB who EVERYONE says this is the guy.

I am hoping 6-7 wins. If that does not happen then he is most likely on the first train out of town being chased by the local headhunters. Mike we all are pulling for you but you must win this year or you and your staff are toast.

Nineteen players chose not to return for spring ball. To be fair about half were walk ins. Tua’tua the big nose tackle left.
Dunner now a wr.
Neu went where he shouldn’t have and basically said Riley left because of his dad. Shoulda left that alone.

I never enter the coaching stay or go scenarios. Just don’t want to get wrapped up in that discussion.. there are enough here who do and present valid points that I’m not needed. I’m a Neu fan and like mostly what he’s done to get us competitive. But it hasn’t shown through. Is it the hires or other factors? Losing what appeared to be a quality hire for the DBs will not help the situation.
As for Riley, I thought he was the answer, but reflecting back, it just didn’t work here, and I’m really excited about the potential on board. I’m of the opinion that one of the new guys will emerge as the starter before MAC play. I really like the guy who most think deserves the job, but I don’t think he will hold it.
Rambling done. On to 🍸 number 2. Over and out.

Paddock will make a real push for the starting job. He’s probably more accurate than Plitt and less apt to throw it to the other team, but gotta like Plitts full out mentality.

I do love that, and really hope it pans out for him. He came in against all odds and pulled it off. But, I think there is better pure talent available. Question is, when will it be ready.

Guys I really hate to say but I kinda think we are screwed. We have coaches leaving, Players leaving and we are heading into spring ball without a DB coach.. Our secondary is one unit that really needs coaching. If its possible to enter a season with more questions than we did last year we are going to do it this year. The difference is know the questions extend to off the field.. I am going to stop short of using the term Dumpster fire but damn it feels way. Im not just bitching to bitch because I love Ball State Football and I want them succeed but none of this looks good.
As far as the QB situation its probably PLitts to lose at least at the start. Plitt is fun gunslinging sumbitch.. I like it cause he pushes it down the field and it gives us a chance. The problem with him is the turnovers you just cant turn it over as much as he does.
Everything I have heard about paddock is he can read defenses and he is deadly accurate. The knock if any is whether he has the arm to make all the throws and his size. All we have heard is coach speak, interviews from HIgh school guys and a few of the recruiting services. Without question though everyone has said the dame thing and that he is the real deal.
Dunner to WR is interesting not sure if he can line up outside but If we can get a reliable deep threat and have Dunner and Hall catching balls in space then we could be pretty good at WR.
RB I kinda like have Huntley as the feature back. I was not a big fan of the 4 back rotation. Rb's need touches to get going in and out you never really get going

The coming season will go one of two ways: either it will be a disaster of epic proportions (most likely), or be a very pleasant surprise. I don’t think there’s any middle ground with this one. I just hope they’re fun to watch either way.

Exactly Im fully prepared to accept and sit through just a disastor but I can see some pieces that are pretty ggod. If our o line sucks or is injured though its over

Our secondary can't get any worse, right? I know not having a DB coach right now is an issue, but in recent years they have played like they didn't have any coaching.
