Very impressed with NKU's B ball program. How low have we fallen at BSU? I once worked at NKU. The campus is nothing but plain concrete buildings, almost looks lipe a prison compound not to mention located in one of the lower economic states. The campus is mostly commuter with less support from state legislators. And yet we get their hand-me-downs in vasketball😁 Go NKU!

No, no no. You must be mistaken somehow. NKU is actually a bad team and a bad program. You see, they only hired on their coach for like $190K, so obviously he is not any good. It's a well known fact that you have to out-bid everyone for a coach from the most popular hiring pool to be a good program.
NKU is obviously on some sort of bizarre, odds-defying lucky streak....just like Whitford hit an unbelievable unlucky streak this year.
Here at BSU, we are paying Whitford $300K and we have nothing for contempt for cheap, podunk programs like NKU, and whatever silly things they are currently doing.

Yes, it can work. But the question is whether it is the norm. Is it good odds to have succeded. Also what will it be he makes next job when we would consider him. 20-20 hindsight always is better than average.
I suggest you look at all the 190K hires at the time he was hired and those at our level and see how they all did. And look at historically successful programs and see what their strategy is.

UC-Irvine and Liberty won tournament games for the first time today. Also saw that St. Louis is in the tournament. I remember crushing them to open the season several years ago and everyone acting like it was no big deal because their program was terrible.
Will we ever make the tournament again?

Well I brought up the examples of Dambrot, Oates and Majerus as the three most successful MAC coaches I could think of, off the top of my head, and pointed out how none of them were the result of out-bidding everyone for the most expensive coach the school could possibly afford.
Since your preferred plan is such a costly one, it seems to me that the onus is on you to show that is the best way to success. So let's have your examples. As far as I've seen, you have yet to produce one example. Instead you just blather on, with your stultifying and interminable posts with no supporting facts.
You would do well to reflect on how your current habits of thought have led to you supporting the most idiotic and failed ideas...such as extending Whitford.

Dambrot and Majerus from a different era. Coaching salaries lower everywhere. But we paid Rick pretty well, AND offered him the highest MAC salary after his proven success. So there was no stigma of being cheapskate. This was a much more attractive job then.
Oats is an outlier. Besides, what I suggest is the best route to a good coach, and I have not said we couldn't get lucky, but do you really feel lucky when you think of hiring at BSU?
In today's market where we want the best coach in the MAC, a big bidding war is not necessary, but we should offer a salary as good as good MAC programs offer. NOT shoot low. Which has been our strategy since we hired Ray.

Yeah UGym was a far more desirable place to build a program.

I knew you wouldn't have any examples. It's a lot more noticeable than you seem to suppose.
