Of course I'm not going to sit and read through all that. I just scanned to look for names, and didn't see any. If you had read it you would see I am not advocating getting some "most expensive coach." Or outbidding everybody.
I do say that we should be prepared to pay better than we do to try to get one of the best available coaches at our level. And not go into a search with the same or lower pay than other good programs.
This has to assume we want to be good and will do more than we have more like what we need to do in order to get there. Not just make wishes and hope we get lucky cheap.

Ahh... i remember the days when the BSU program was good enough to have a concern that someone would want to hire the coach away. Those were the good ole days...

This from the guy who believes paying more for something, than it is worth in the open market, is an efficient use of capital. Huh? I say pay more for the next hire than the last. Not pay more than they are worth. I am arguing to get us to a salary level where we can have some money to play with. And if our AD goes wrong paying somebody too much, we then at least we can get an upgrade more easily. Explain how giving Whitford a raise, which is what you suggested, is an efficient use of resources ?

Explain how giving Whitford a raise, which is what you suggested, is an efficient use of resources ? Not exactly what I said. Which was "if" we want higher salary for a future upgrade we needed to build the line. If you like the inefficient alternative of paying too little and gambling on that working next coach, I disagree. If better coaching desired long run, and if we are hiring, we should pay well every hire.
