Am I the only one that the more I read about this season less optimism I have? I truly hope Neu has some surprises up his sleeve. I am thinking if we don't have a winning season this year he will be looking for another job.

NOT SO FAST:
Lets look at Brady Hoke’s record prior to going 12-0 during the regular season in 2008.
Damn good thing we didn’t let him go after the first 4 years!
2003 - 4-8 2004 - 2-9 2005 - 4-7 2006 - 5-7 2007 - 7-6 2008 - 12-1

2008 was fun when it was happening, but when I look at Brady Hoke's time here I see zero conference championships.
I'm magnanimous though so I'm willing to consider mitigating factors. To that end I also see zero bowl victories.

So evidently we’re to expect a bowl season in like mikes year 5 an undefeated season in year 6? And then mike will bail with no bowl wins and no Mac championships?
Brady getting a lot of mileage out of one season 11 years ago. And That One year ultimately ended in tremendous disappointment.
(Plus, No Parrish and Nate Davis and Brady doesn’t make it)
Looks at current roster, doesn’t see an offensive coordinator and recruiter of Stan Parrish’s stature, or a qb remotely near the talent level of Nate Davis. Or An nfl talent level oline. Or Sean Baker at safety. Or the great Dbs we had, etc etc.

During that 2007 season you could really sense the great potential the 2008 team was going to have. Like you said the downer was no Bowl victory or league title!

So evidently we’re to expect a bowl season in like mikes year 5 an undefeated season in year 6? And then mike will bail with no bowl wins and no Mac championships? Sadly, that may be what we have to expect from any coach. A slow build with a chance for a good year, then rather quickly losing a coach and starting over...
The difference with the consistent MAC programs is that coaches leave with a more full cupboard left behind and they hire a coach ready to go out of the box. Usually have resources in place to have some continuity.
Parrish looked like a decent bet at the time, but was a serious error on top of the unfortunate timing of Brady bailing, and the loss of the senior class. Can blame the Athletic administration, call them inept. Some truth there of course. But a good part of the two things goes back to resources and no real commitment. Both of those things not within the AD's control.

I’d take a 12-0 regular season again. That Western game for win 12 was awesome. Rushed the field. It was almost heaven. Went to Detroit, sad game. Robbed of a td and the team fell apart. Didn’t go to bowl game, thankfully. Still, I’d tale a 12-0 regular season any day.

This season reminds me of Lembo's first...Didn't know what to expect...First game in Lucas Oil...out of the players (especially Wenning), the staff (all unknowns)...and went on to defeat IU and win six games. I would settle for those stats
