We finished 11th out of 12 with what was reported to be the best talent in recent history and won 1/3 of the games against our peer group.
Regardless if it was exceptional players and suck coaching or exceptional coaches and suck talent, it’s realistically nothing to celebrate.
It’s not wrong to expect more. Those that don’t should be disappointed that their expectations are so low.

We aren’t really celebrating failure, we’re just tired of it, continue to see it, and don’t see the use in making too big a deal of small victories within the big picture of going no where. We are jaded from all the “best talent ever” or at least in a long time coming up short on an annual basis. Until something changes and we don’t once again flame out, and finally actually make it past the second round in Cleveland (really, unless we make the championship game we haven’t done much) then we’ll celebrate success.

By the way, I just confirmed the sideline color was cream which clearly illustrates the point! Nice try but it wasn’t green or white Kid, when people are here primarily to celebrate failures, they don't care about why the failure occurred. They have already decided it was because the players are very poor players and the coaches very poor coaches.
Not sure how that squares with this program, even as it has been disappointing is in the middle of D1.
If the players are that bad, the coach must be doing a hell of a job. If the coach is that bad, then the players must be pretty good. I'm just banging on Kid a little because he is by far the biggest enabler of mediocrity and the one person who'll try to spin any negative. It's just so ludicrous to blame the floor color for turnovers and now, according to one of his more recent posts, it was just the one sideline where all these turnovers took place. That must mean the other three sides of the court had different colors because apparently nobody had issues with turnovers there. But, you know, I wasn't there and he was so I'm sure my assumption that all the boundary lines were the same color is probably wrong. Some folks will believe any excuse they're fed; just because others don't doesn't mean they celebrate failure.

True enough about the kid and boundless positive.
Although this is a fan forum. That is not such a sin.

No need to celebrate. But no reason to ONLY see negative.
Whatever the reason for incessant negative spin, I don't care for it becoming incessant negative about players, and no apparent desire by some to see any success of any kind.
Surely we all could accept the good that's there without always somehow resenting it not being more, and refusing to accept it in any way.

It’s okay while I’m largely positive I did note some areas where we’ll need to improve namely ball handling or reducing turnovers. I’m also a bit concerned if we can score adequately from the PG position.
I’m also concerned if we can out rebound most teams...we can if we play with a high motor which includes Teague! He must bring it every night for our team to play to its potential.
The key will be some of our rotations where I believe we will go 10 deep. My forced ranking is:
1. Teague 2. Hazen 3. Mallers 4. Walton 5. Josh 6. Ish 7. Thomas 8. Hendricks 9. Bumbalough 10. Kroft 11. Gunn 12. Acree 13. Huggins
Acree has talent but hasn’t played a lot after the ACL injury last year; I’d probably Red Shirt him.

How did you rate Walton? No evidence of improvement and we need that...
Would think Ish might rate higher on his good performance.
Acree already sat a year, can't redshirt I would think?

On paper we have some of the best talent we have had, with the exception of the Sweet Sixteen team. Watched the UNLV game last week, WOW what a team. I don’t feel it is the talent as much as it is the coaching. Teague shooting three’s, come on! The list goes on. Not the players, it’s appears to be coaching. Demand more, help the players develop their talents, etc.

Walton DNP so hard to say.
Ish played very well and could very well play in front of KJ; largely depends if KJ has developed at all since last season. I believe he has been putting up lots of shots.
Your point on Acree could mean another Freshman Redshirts?

Good synopsis, Kid. Here’s the problem—the issues you raise are the same we’ve had for how long in Whit’s program?

Good synopsis, Kid. Here’s the problem—the issues you raise are the same we’ve had for how long in Whit’s program? Disagree the problems are quite the same, and without seeing more hate to write them off. And especially since we know so little how Whitford plans to use a different mix of talent than the past.

Let’s see: Taking care of the ball, check PG questions, check Will they Consistently play with a high motor, check Oh, and outside shooting, check.
Same ol same as far as I can tell.
Not writing them off, just saying we’re not sure anything has changed. Which is what happens when you recruit the same player every year.
Hoping these kids can overcome the flaws and do big things this year.
