BSU won again tonight against a tough Ottawa team 70-61! Ish had about 12, Mallers 11, and Teague 10! These are estimates. Good deal safe travels home

Next up for the Costa Rica Select and Ottawa teams are the Drake Bulldogs who have had some good years in the MVC.

26 turnovers.......... However, we did out-rebound them so Whitford must have made that a priority.

Maybe they blocked out...
Not many assisted baskets for us.
Huggie, Ish each had 5 TO in 15 minutes play. Mallers 5 in 17 minutes. There is 15 accounted for. Rest of the team 11 in remaining 75% of minutes. Coleman saw action 3 assists against 1 TO. That is solid. Looks like he will contribute.
Ovérall had to be a better game. Opponent came out strong but we evened game fairly quickly. No opposing player positive minutes in +/- column.

I expected better than this. They have a lot of work ahead to be a respectable team this winter. Sad.

I expected better than this. They have a lot of work ahead to be a respectable team this winter. Sad. Mixed emotions for me. Not sure I expected all that much more at this point, hoped for a little better, knew we'd need a lot of work with so many new players jockeying for PT. Good news, better than expected, about Hendricks, Kroft. Thomas, Ish seemed to play well, about what I expected, confirmed they can play. Josh was Josh, good for a walk on. No big surprise for any returning vets. Newcomers overall showed well. Taj was Taj, still teasing us with so much good play, want more. Disappointing overall on outside shooting, Mallers, Gunn, Bumbalough (number of shots) were disappointing there. Disappointed we didn't see KJ, not many minutes for a couple more. Coleman pretty good in only 26 minutes. Floor game good, shot better than expected. Huggie didn't show much in 15 minutes. Did block shots rebound. Staff has a challenge finding best combinations, deciding who plays most early. Looks like we need Ish, Teague, maybe Thomas on the floor most. Depth looks much better. They have to use that well, we've not had that challenge before for them...

Pretty accurate assessment on most accounts I would say. I’d mention that taking care of the ball should be a priority although 4 turnovers came from having a foot on the sideline which was understandable given the court colors providing little differentiation

Gotta hand it to you kid. You never cease to amaze me with your limitless supply of excuses.

I’d mention that taking care of the ball should be a priority although 4 turnovers came from having a foot on the sideline which was understandable given the court colors providing little differentiation That is part and parcel of finding the new style of play that can function with out the primary ball handler being the top scorer and also not having a pass first PG. We have neither and have to share ball handling much more than last year. Have to move a little away from the P&R concentration out front, and not expect our centers to do as much play making. And that change takes good coaching.
What did you see in the games in how our offense is initiated so far?
Any sign of a quicker game pace to take advantage of athletes and depth. That is new territory for BSU basketball in recent history at least.

Gotta hand it to you kid. You never cease to amaze me with your limitless supply of excuses. 20+ turnovers in these games is hard to excuse, well unless they are in the throes of major offensive overhaul.
From the stat sheet, never passing the ball to Huggins in traffic or not letting Mallers handle too much would a good idea. Ish was also guilty of a pretty high turnover rate, but at least he scored when he had the ball. The rest of the team wasn't so bad.

You obviously missed the part where Kid blamed 4 turnovers on the floor color. That's the excuse I was referring to.

I noticed in the box score Ish had a (C) after his name. I would assume that means he is the Captain of the team. If so, very interesting if he is the Captain instead of any of the 3 seniors. I would have guessed Mallers would have been elected Captain. I can't think of many teams where the Captain isn't a starter, but I'm not sure if Ish starts and if he does, who sits (Walton?).

It’s really hard for the team to remain at any level of consistency when they’ve been away from top level coaching for the last 4+ months.

L mills I was not making excuses at all and in fact actually agreed with most comments made. I even said the not turning the ball over should be made a priority.
The fact is though between both teams there were 5-6 turnovers by stepping on the same sideline!!! Trust me, these turnovers had nothing to do with ball handling
But you and the General know better because you observed it first hand.
