We have a kicking issue. So much to iron out before next Saturday. Carli Lloyd got her undergrad from Rutgers. Perhaps she is interested in pursuing a Master's Degree. BSU could offer her a full ride for two seasons. She could do on-line, then just show up Wednesday to Saturday for practice and games.

I’m not sure our Ball State Cardinals would be considered a positive career move for any “up and comer” football coaches in FCS.
We are pretty much the bottom of the D1 barrel.

My impression is the defense can not apply pressure which means any more wins are shoot outs. Plitt is able to lead us to scores but he will give up a number of interceptions. Coaches are no better. Those of us on this board are not going to be happy in all liklihood at the end of the season. We've had this problem for a few years. We do not pressure QBs. They vacation in the pocket.

It seems up and comer FCS coaches always do better when they inherit a well recruited team (obviously), where the head coach was hired away by a good Power 5 offer, but left the program in good shape. I'm not sure we'd be that. I wish we could find a Frank Solich, a proven guy not interested in hopping to a Power 5.

You are preachin' to the choir 00. Let's all back this kids and coach and hope they can put it all together.

I think if Neu is fired we would regress much more than a year or two. That is the reason I am hoping we show a vast improvement over the past so we can continue to climb this very steep hill. Which means an AD will consider something less than a vast improvement as enough improvement when deciding to cut or retain. We'll be hiring another bargain coach and a new staff. Hard to retain good players and even a miracle recruiting class is a year away at best.
You are right it is a very steep hill rarely accomplished on a shoestring budget.
The Sherman "2 year and out" Plan of gambling on an unknown is really hard to justify in Football, where player development is slow and recruiting classes rarely make instant impact. Especially true when considering the need for this unknown coach to assemble a good staff to do both. Not only do you need to strike gold with this gambling hire, but you are asking those assistants to all gamble their career on that unknown coach without a track record of success.
I agree with this and want to see what this staff can do in year 5 so I would do a one year extension if we can win at least 5 games and not get blown out like last year several times. Indiana game and Fordham IMO is a good start. FAU will tell us a lot and I see us as 10 point underdogs!

And yes we could have used Gilbert this year. He’s been great for Kansas St. Gilbert is the same Gilbert ability wise.

Home of lake wawasee, the legendary Tippy Dance hall and a great Dive Bar called the frog. If those are not your things you can always get your fried food fix at Penguin Point.

According to those who follow recruiting, we've already had one sub-par recruiting year in part because of Neu's somewhat lame-duck status and and a one-year extension just allows other coaches to harp on Neu's questionable status. You either have to get rid of him and extend longer ... if you want to recruit.
