What if we looked to Europe for our next coach? This just occurred to me 5 minutes ago and I haven't thought it all through and there are a ton of things I don't know
But it's an intriguing possibility. I'm thinking they could bring a different and unique style of play....which brings certain advantages and would be fascinating to watch
Biggest risk would be recruiting. Would they be able to attract recruits? Would they want to make the effort it takes? How could we judge beforehand how they might do? Of course they would have a huge advantage in recruiting European kids
Seems like some interesting candidates might be attracted to the challenge. Regardless of everything thing else it would be fun. What do we really have to lose?

What do we really have to lose? There might be something here. They would bring full fledged Euro ball and no doubt some quality recruits.
Not sure but interesting enough Coaching skills aside, there would be a question perhaps about ability to put together a staff. And that would be critical since it would be OJT situation.
Not just with the college game and level of competition, but on all the elements off the court that a college coach needs to take on, including not just recruiting, especially Indiana, but the maze of NCAA regs, the culture of college athletics, alumni relations, and so on. Definitely would need help there, and probably a very good lead assistant with experience to manage the difficult areas.

Looks like money should not be much of a barrier. If this article can be believed, there are only 8 total coaches in the European leagues that make more than $550K link
Language may be an issue with some candidates, but I would imagine English is pretty common among the coaches over there. Personally, I wouldn't want our new European coach to speak English TOO well. A heavy accent would be part of the appeal...especially when working the refs. "You cannot see and you are EEEDIOT!!!"
Alright! I think I've convinced myself. It's time for all of us to start putting out some feelers among our European contacts.

Viscous Petrol is no longer playing and is an assistant coach with BC Rytas Vilnius. I think we go for him.

I think 12 is on to something with the Lithuanian league being a good potential source. There are some good young coaching prospects like Blastis Flatulencius, Tokis Ganjakevikas, and Wankus Jakakokius.

Euro coaches? How about Vic Hitler and his Blitzkreig Offense.

I must take my hat off to the General and his coaches names. Made me laugh out loud...and I am alone. That is when you know it is really funny. Well Done sir.

I also wouldn't mind getting a Russian women's coach named Svetlana.
I just want to be able to say, "Look. Our coach is Svetty!"

Believe it or not, svetlana titova turns out to be a pretty common name. There are a hundred or more Facebook profiles
