I see Luke being the point from the get go. The auditioning games in Coasta Rica gave him some experience. Josh will get a lot of PT.

I see Luke being the point from the get go. The auditioning games in Coasta Rica gave him some experience. Josh will get a lot of PT. He's maybe the vest pocket version of Persons in being an offensive threat and being used to handle the ball all the time. So if we aren't changing our half court offense maybe a better fit, but he's a freshman and the difference compared to HS says he will need some time.
And, I also hope we are changing the offense at least a little to spread the ball around better. I like him better off the bench coming in with KJ. If he starts with Ish who I think is our best guard, then the bench doesn't bring in much shooting. Nice to have there be a spark when we substitute.

Hazen's history with back issues doesn't give me great confidence that he's going to make it through a whole season fighting for position under the basket. I think we'd better hope that one of he actual big kids can defend the post sooner rather than later.

Disagree that Hazen can not be durable; he has done the right work and should be fine

His back condition will be the judge of that.

Very true Cardfan, but since I suffer from the identical same issue I believe the issue can be controlled by core strength!

Oh I hope it never bothers him again. It’s just that last year doctors indicated it could come back at anytime. Maybe it won’t. We need him healthy.

At Arkansas Hazen only totaled nine minutes in SEC games. I think the back issue likely transferred with him.

He has Pars defect which I suffer from personally; if you strengthen your core, etc typically you can play sports.
I’m much older and not nearly in the condition of Hazen and I play tennis 5-6 hours of tennis per week.

I don't know, Kid. It's certainly true that a good core strengthening program can result in good outcomes with the general public and with some sports. However, recreational tennis isn't exactly Division I basketball. It's not a contact sport and, unless you play like Roger Federer, you aren't dealing with nearly the same level of axial loading or extension that a college basketball player has to cope with.
If this was a new injury last year, it could be that an improved core program will do some good. If this is a recurring injury, I doubt the BSU medical and training staff has a lot more in their bag of tricks than the folks Hazen has worked with previously.

We've known he is at risk. Not clear the percentages.
His medical team has allowed him to play, but that just means it's a reasonable risk. Not no risk. And/or maybe that playing versus not may not be greatly different risk for a well conditioned athlete.

In my mind "reasonable risk" doesn't make any statement about how likely it is that he can play a whole season.
Just that they've determined it's reasonably safe for him to play.
