.....Wake Forest was looking for a football coach and flew to Muncie in December 2013 to talk to Lembo?
Well, they hired Dave Clawson (BG) instead and they are now 7-1 and ranked #23
Talk about “dodging a bullet”......

I personally think Lembo could have been successful at a school like Wake with the right staff. He's killing it at Memphis right now as the Assoc HC and Special Teams Coordinator.

I think Lembo has proven he can be extremely successful with the right staff. The wheels fell off when his proven coordinators left. The staff he brought from Elon was competent. The staff he replaced them with was not.

Big problem at mid major schools.
A coach with a good staff can come at fairly low cost, hit ground running. It can be great But. Low budget means it can all fall apart.
Too often success means opportunity for assistants to advance, just as we experienced. Hard to replace without losing synergy. Not just losing one or two good coaches, it's sometimes losing the fit together staff teamwork magic that made it all work.

In the end Lembo was ALL TALK AND NO ACTION. That SOB threw our program under the bus and left town two days before Christmas. He was and is a horse's ass.
