Truthfully, I would go for a midseason Amen brother. Stop the madness. Fire away.

I'm disgusted with Ball State basketball right now. We've put up with mediocrity for far too long.

I agree with everything everyone has said but I was trying to come up with something to stir the pot.( I like to do that sometimes) I just cant find anything to really be positive about anything relating to basketball. I do not see a light at the end of the tunnel. If this year sucks as bad as looks like it will whats that say for the next couple years.. No one has shown much of anything I think Luke and Coleman can give us something but Im not sure why the rest of the newcombers are even on the roster Thatyjust it, I think we can win with the talent we have, maybe not as much winning as we want, but a hell of a lot more than what we’re currently seeing or have seen over the past year or more. We just do not have the coach to manufacture a team that can win. Whit has maxed out his skill set and obviously that’s not taken the team very far. Don’t you know that the other MAC schools and coaches have to be sitting back and just laughing in disbelief at how Ball State allows this to be the norm!?!? Even just a little bit more coaching would do wonders!

I assume you guys are just venting and actually realize that there is no conceivable way that Whitford will be fired mid-season.
In fact, if I had to bet money, I would wager that Whitford will still be the coach this time next year....even assuming another bottom feeding finish.
BSU has an athletics program just because it's always had one and it would be a lot more work and headache to get rid of it. Has the AD shown any sign whatsoever that she is going to demand excellence and build basketball into a source of school pride and interest? Like what? What background does she have in that sort of thing? Athletics is managed to avoid trouble and headaches and to spend the money that's available there to spend. How does firing Whitford fit into that mindset?
I suspect that while we see the possibility of a new coach as a potential way our of the hell of failure and mediocrity we've been mired in for two decades, the AD sees a potential coaching hire search as a something unfamiliar and difficult, and a huge source of vulnerability to criticism.

I think all of us understand that the only way any coach is walking out the door before their contract is up is if a booster shows up with a mighty big check. Otherwise BSU athletics is nothing more than Groundhog Day. But that won't keep me from dreaming that Prince Charming with the blank check will show up and save us from our annual nightmare.

Its not happening but the odds of it happening in basketball are better than they are in football

Truthfully, I would go for a midseason firing right now. I know this isn't common at the collegiate level and that it rarely changes a team's level of play, but at least if it's still a shitshow, it'll be a slightly different shitshow. Hand the keys to Grunk, or Botts, or Crenshaw. I don't care. Preferably someone who shows a little fire so if the product on the court is still a snoozefest, at least there might be some entertainment value from watching the coach ream a few people. I'd personally love to see a midseason firing, but I highly doubt BSU would do that.

Doesn’t cost any more to do a mid-season.
You just pay a guy to not do anything for half a year.
🤔 Wait a minute......

Probably a question that would be better for Arizona fans, but what did Whitford do at Arizona that made him such an appealing target in our last coaching search?

Arizona was a winner & a big time basketball school. That & knowing he would be cheap with no buy out it was almost to good to be true.

Sean Miller was paying for number 1 recruiting classes so it looked like his assistants were kick ass recruiters.....case closed

Just hire a part-time freethrow coach. That ought to make up most of the difference.

As as far as recruiting, it’s a hell of a lot easier to recruit here than in Muncie. So he looked decent at it. Miller is well liked here and will take something coming out of the investigation to remove him.

No because if they push too hard they will find every major school and coaching staff do or did similar things.. So it will fade away
