Surprisingly very good football. Great coaching, athletes, and attendance. If you catch this in time, I recommend you turn it on. I'm not trying to stir the pot, I'm a BIG Lembo fan and in no way support a drop to FCS, but I'm curious if OTP folks on here think BSU could have beat NW Missouri State or Shepherd this year??? I personally do not think we would beat either of them this year.

I go past both of these schools during my business travels. They seem to have a pretty good local following for small schools.

If we couldn't even beat a DII school, regardless on how high they are ranked, we should just shut the program down.

I think you're confusing Division II with FCS. FCS/I-AA used to be Division II until the early 80s. So Northwest Missouri State can only play up to FCS (think Indiana State or Illinois State).

I'm not sure which post you are replying to... but if it is to me I am certainly not confused by the levels. That is why I stated I do not support BSU dropping to FCS (formerly NCAA 1-AA). That is why I also titled the thread Div II (a step below FCS) - yes 2 steps below Ball State/FBS/I-A level. I realize it is a hypothetical situation to ask if BSU could beat either of the DII schools in the championship game, there is no way they would ever play. But, after watching that game I will double down on my position, BSU wouldn't beat either NW Missouri State or Shepherd this year. I don't know if they were stacked with transfers, I wasn't paying extremely close attention to the audio, but I did hear "transfer from Iowa State, transfer from Virginia Tech, transfer from UConn" and there may have been others. I think it would be interesting if BSU/Purdue/IU took on a nearby solid DII school like Grand Valley or Ferris State. I talked to a football coach from Eastern Michigan a couple years ago. He told me GVSU would take over the MAC if they moved up and in. I don't think that would happen but he was a professional who worked at both places, got to respect his opinion somewhat. Interesting to note, In my recollection, as bad as Indiana State (who beat us last time we played) has historically been we have never drubbed them. Look what a tiny NAIA school in IN did to them, 2010 St. Francis (Ft. Wayne) beats Indiana State like a drum, to the tune of 42-10.
