Ish has decided to play his senior season at BSU!
This is big for the Cards and certainly makes us one of the favorites

I was pretty happy with the prospects we had signed. Adding him really give us a lot of talent at wing and guard.

He could have gone to Minnesota I heard but decided to stay; good decision and we are gonna be deep at guard! We got several players that could start!! Heck, Jones, KJ, Bum, Boogey, and Ish! Who is deeper at guard in the MAC? And solid at Forward with Gunn, Acree, Thomas, and Hazen Hendricks will play too.

He really wanted Butler but they chose someone else. Not alot of other interest.. Good news for us

Word is a player hit the portal at Minnesota so Ish either would have started or have gotten significant play time

Word is a player hit the portal at Minnesota so Ish either would have started or have gotten significant play time yea they had kid hit the portal yesterday or the day before.. I thought for sure Ish we go there after I read that.. But he did not like I said this helps alot especially if neither of the transfers can play right away

Glad he is back. Wish we had solid bigs to go with our nice assortment of guards. Whitford really likes what he was seeing down in Houston, and has decided to never recruit a player taller than 6'7" again.

Where is that stud “Big” we were promised? As you say. Defense inside and rebounding are major losses. A stud big man added to question marks Gunn, Hendricks, Huggins, Hazen (due to injury) would make us a genuinely good team. Even without a real stud, adding a merely solid and adequate big man might be enough to be at or near the top of the conference. Losing Teague, all MAC, and Mallers a steady performer highlights the need for those 4 guys we do have to improve markedly. One more of them will have to become solid, Hazen can hold his own but can't play more than about 20 minutes.
OTOH, it could be a more talented roster overall than what we played most of the year last year. Good talent, the newcomers last year with significant experience. With KJ back and Thomas and Acree coming along well at the end of the last season, with new comers all pretty good athletes, we have increased our athleticism and have quality wing players to offset some of the lack of size. Ish back, Jones to replace Mallers, and adding the newcomers should mean we can have improved scoring on the perimeter.

If nothing else, we should have a ridiculous fast break.

I thought for sure Ish we go there after I read that.. But he did not like I said this helps alot especially if neither of the transfers can play right away Yes, whether they play or not is a big variable.
Both may be "coronavirus" transfers back home, so we could end up with both able to play. Jones we know can play in the MAC, Windham could be very good, but with the number of wing players we have if he isn't ready to outperform the others for major minutes a red shirt might be reasonable. Have to expect Ish to be our centerpiece and get a lot of minutes. I'd be happier with him if he was improved as a ball handler and we good play him at 3 positions. I am OK with Coleman who will improve and can play all over the court. Bumbalough is now playing as off guard. Able to have all 3 play as combo guards would be good news.
KJ is not a guard on offense. Likely going to be a defender at 3 positions but mostly a wing at the offensive end, more like Acree or Thomas. Needs to be able to shoot when wide open or he may have a hard time getting minutes except as a defender if they are improved at all.

Ish returning is not surprising and a huge help. There is no guarantee that Jones or Windham will be eligible in the coming season. I have heard the NCAA may be very reticent to open that Pandora's box. Even without the transfers, we have Ish, Coleman Bumb & Walton at guard which is very good depth. Everywhere else is a crap shoot guys. Acree & Thomas have very limited minutes on the court for us, Gunn has been a one-trick pony in his career thus far and Hazen is a role-player not a difference-maker like Taj. I'm guessing Hendricks play over Huggins but both are pretty raw and have almost no minutes yet on the floor combined. We will be good enough to win 16-19 games again but probably not a title without a solid inside presence to loosen things up outside.
