The Cards lost a winnable game to IU 9-5, on a very windy day. Surprised there was only one HR. HR given up to IU was a hanging pitch. - Pitching staff looked mediocre. Gave up 14 hits to a good hitting team, but we had trouble hitting spots. Walked 7, 1 HBP. Of the 7 innings I saw, I think we allowed 1st batter on base 5 times.
- Poor field play allowed IU to stay at bat with two outs on several occasions, and they produced runs. IU steals 2 of 3 (should've been 3 of 3. Ump missed call).
- Offense did not get a hit until the 4th inning. We seem to want to pull the ball a lot, especially breaking balls. Our RH hitters found the left and middle, but couldn't go to right, and IU was playing us that way.
This was not the same IU team that whooped us 16-1 in March. They are not as good as the IU teams from the past two years. This was a completely winnable game. Have to take 2 of 3 from NIU at home this weekend to get to 30 wins.
