I think there is no question that this young man can come in and give us immediate help down low!

I disagree! He could score inside on drives and offensive rebounds just on athleticism, but I don't see him as primarily an inside player, posting up, or an inside defender. I think he will help us more on the perimeter!
First and foremost, my main hope is that he will use his athletic talents to guard, anybody, anywhere on the court. Except maybe on the blocks where he needs to fill out and might be pushed around. I think his game will start outside, he will get open shots outside because he will be big threat to drive the basketball.
If we want to be super optimists, he is the kind of player who can be an all MAC player at SF and a pro prospect. He is long, but he is quick and agile. I would see him as MAC version of Paul George.
The good news is if he wants to play and if he defends with intensity and effort, he doesn't have to be a scorer, he will be a huge addition right away, stopping the other teams best player.

I just listened to a radio broadcast from the Kent Sterling show , he interviewed Teague about the Indiana and Kentucky all star game , and his future at Ball State ..... He expects to come in a make an impact right away , he will be at Ball State on June 15th with all the other players present .... Sterling mentioned that he was a little surprised he went to Ball State , thought he would go to a higher ranked school , sounds good for us .... If you get on Breiner's twitter page , you can listen to the whole interview ....

In the game tonight against the Kentucky all stars Teague scored 6 points , and a team high of 11 rebounds and 3 blocks ...... That series has really become much less important. To Kentucky especially, but maybe to everyone, including fans. Less than a 1000 fans showed up in Kentucky. Probably reflects the decline in importance of HS basketball. Kentucky had trouble getting 5 players to come to practice in the week before the game. Neither Mr Basketball participated (both had a fairly good reason, but it's an odd note). Should be more interest in the Indiana home game, I think that is tonight.

Kind of an average night for Tahjai tonight , still scored 8 points , had 7 rebounds , and 2 blocks .... Had a big play at the 5 minute mark with a monster break away dunk to kind of put the game away ....

Had a big play at the 5 minute mark with a monster break away dunk to kind of put the game away .... Good to see him play that well. He is not a back court player, so an all star game never shows all that much about a player who doesn't have the ball a lot. Scoring is more likely to be easier for those kids. Besides they don't have to rebound and can get out on the break from the wing.(like AAU ball generally) It's easier to look good if you are a lights out shooter, or have the ability to drive the lane playing in game with not much defense. You have to look a little better in the box score, and a couple of the Indiana players did. I'll give Teague good marks here for going to the boards, getting to the ball, and he clearly has the athleticism advertised, with steals, blocks, rebounds and getting out on the break when he could. It may be hard one way or the other to say how he will fit into the offense in college based on these games, though. And, he did not play against the kind of strong inside players he will see in college, so we can't know how much he will fill the need we have up front. But, just as the scouting report says, he is quick and explosive and if he plays D, he immediately can be a bigger and better version of Chris Bond, he is a better shooter with similar athletic ability. He surely gives us an option we did not have last year. And, we don't need a 3 point shooter. Even if it doesn't seem likely he is a go to post scoring threat, I hope he has enough range to require somebody to guard him outside the lane, give room for others to post up, and also to create spacing for himself and others to drive to the basket. Have to have a little optimism based on a pretty good showing.

Teague can shoot the 3. He won't play much in the post I don't think. He's a "stretch" 3-4.

Teague can shoot the 3. He won't play much in the post I don't think. He's a "stretch" 3-4. Did not hit much from outside in the All Star activities. But, that probably shouldn't mean much, he should not be a primary option anyway. We have several better shooters we would want to be the main threat and take most of the shots. He just needs to be good enough when open to demand somebody guard him outside, and if they ignore him, he has to hit. I think we will hear more in our offense about "spacing" and see an offense that allows House to work inside and others including Teague to get very open shots if they drop off to double team or stop the drive. Hopefully, if this works and they man up and can't get help, he can use his quickness to get to the boards, or drive, or cut to the basket to score inside rather than be a post up guy. I think House needs some room in there to get his points.
