Although Kaleb Jenness was rested last night before the trip west, the team is beginning to return to good health. Jenness has attacked with authority the past 2 weekends, Buckholz and Pytlak are back from illness and Egharevba’s shoulder is feeling better and he is taking big swings. Setter David Flores has the offense back in rhythm so hopefully the Cardinals can play well in California and Arizona. Ohio State visits Worthen Arena Wednesday, March 15th at 7:00 for annual Cardinal-Buckeye showdown in a monstrous match for both teams who are tied for 2nd place in the MIVA at 4-2.

Watching replay of BSU @ 49ers (Dirtbags, if you’re baseball) and the LBSU announcers are terrible. One is a VB All American.
Still shows the strength of BSU TCOMM.

Ball State is ranked 11th in the country this week and will take on 5th ranked Grand Canyon Wednesday evening at 8:00 in Phoenix. The Antelopes enter the match with a 17-1 record, 2nd best in the nation behind’s undefeated and #1 ranked Hawaii. BSU is coming off a thrilling 3-2 victory over San Diego where they played the final points of the match without their star outside attacker Tanishe Ndavazocheva. Mr T’s status for the Grand Canyon match is still unknown and his injury remains unknown as well. Following the Grand Canyon match, the Cardinals will return home Wednesday, March 15th to battle long time rival and 3- time national champion Ohio State at 7:00.

This one may not be pretty. If we take them to 5 that may indicate we are getting better. If not ………

This one may not be pretty. If we take them to 5 that may indicate we are getting better. If not ……… Sure hope you are there cheering on our Cardinals. We will need all the fan support we can get. Grand Canyon gets great fan support and their band is really good. I’m expecting an all out war tomorrow if Mr T can play after being injured in San Diego. BSU must play better back row defense to have any chance of upsetting the 17-1 Antelopes. We must also pass high velocity serves that have plagued BSU all season. BSU is one of the top blocking teams in the country, but struggle digging if the ball gets by the block. If BSU receives serve and digs balls we have a chance but that’s a big if.

Even in defeat, Ball State may have played their best volleyball of the season dropping an incredibly hard fought match to #5 Canyon 3-0 in Phoenix last night. The Cardinals placed themselves in position to win the first two sets leading 24-23 in set 1 and were tied at 23 in set 2. Set 3 was tight to 18-19 before the Anteaters (17-1) pulled away. Both teams ran immaculate offenses and it was serving and defense that made the small difference between the teams.Grand Canyon may be the closest team in the country to undefeated Hawaii and BSU gave them a tremendous battle!

Fair amount of moral victories this year. Let's see if they can turn those into actual on-court victories starting next week against Ohio State.
Of their next four, they've got a gimme against Quincy and 3 against teams above them in the MIVA standings. 3 of the 4 at home. Win 3 and I might believe they can make some noise at the end of the year.
