Damn. Leadoff hitter Nick Gregory has 3 Ks through 6 innings. Will need him to perform next at bat.
Peltier also struggling.

Ty Weatherly completed 7 innings with 11 Ks and has had Miami hitters totally off balance. He was on it today!
Ironically, Weatherly threw 109 pitches, had 11 Ks and 2 BBs in 7 innings and yesterday, O'Donnell threw 110 pitches, 11 Ks and 2 BBs in 7 innings.
Ty Johnson in for relief. 3-0 BSU.

Gregory comes through in his 4th AB with single and scores...what you expect from your leadoff guy. Meanwhile, Peltier is 0 for 4. Needs a better Sunday. 5-0 BSU going to the top of the 9th.

Weatherly is the key to postseason success with all of the pitching injuries.

Cards pass CMU into 2nd. We sweep Kent we win the league. The odds are extremely low, as pitching is so thin, plus you have to turn around and start the tournament the middle of the following week. The tournament is the most important thing at this point, especially given Kent only has to win 1 in Muncie. Sure, we swept CMU and Miami to win the league last year, but our pitching (and lineup) situation was completely different. This team has grossly overachieved given the pitching injuries.

Again what were the injuries? These injuries have lasted all year. Are these guys laying in a bed at Ball Memorial during the week and then limping onto the field for a Saturday game? I don't know maybe it is injuries or maybe we just need better pitchers.

I don't know maybe it is injuries or maybe we just need better pitchers. Trust the information. There were a couple of front line guys who threw early in the season and were expected to be studs who you've not seen in weeks. And, there was another very promising arm that was out from the beginning and never got on the field. A couple other guys have battled back to get out there but haven't had the same stuff they had prior to injury. And yes, some of the guys who've been healthy have underperformed.

I don't know maybe it is injuries or maybe we just need better pitchers. I'm no expert and am not in the know per se, but just read the articles, listen to the scuttlebut at the games, and look at the roster and see who hasn't pitched or has pitched sparingly according to the box scores. Brown hasn't pitched in weeks and appears to be out for the season. He was a top 50 prospect. Heartlub has pitched just a few innings. He was supposed to be an absolute stud. I'd assume he's effectively out for the season. Ty Johnson was a big contributor last year and was supposed to be a stud this year, but hasn't pitched much due to injuries. Klein has supposedly been back and forth on injuries, and hasn't been what he was last year. Bargo was a beast last year until he went down with Tommy John I believe, which likely cost us the MAC tournament. He's been pitching mostly midweek games, and clearly is not the same after injury. Cole Wise, the freshman from Kokomo was supposed to be a probable starter, but I believe I read somewhere he was out for the season too. This pitching staff is down to the bare bones. IMO, when you start looking at our teams, across the board we have way more injuries than it seems our MAC brethren do. Something needs to be done about S & C and training, and Mitchell seems to get that based on the recent article.
