Ncaa has reverted back to no penalty for kids who transfer more than once... Full wild west mode again.

You know what if the kids are able to transfer unlimited, take away the redshirt ability. You get 4 years, period. Only exception is an injury red shirt such as Clayton Coll. No mental red shirts, development redshirts. You transfer and end up not playing, sorry burned a year of eligibility you now only have 2 years left.

Even professional sports protect themselves from this type of uncontrolled roster fluidity. Since obtaining an academic degree is no longer taking priority, It is probably time to rescind the scholarship charade and sign actual contracts for participation. Too bad for the actual student athletes in field hockey, gymnastics, tennis, etc. who go to college to participate and learn.

The way the NCAA is going, it'll be just the opposite. It'll be unlimited eligibility. We'll have 35-year-old men playing college sports because, even if they aren't good enough for the NBA or NFL, they won't have to go overseas or to Canada now to make a couple hundred grand playing a game for a few months a year.

The time for a split between institutions/athletes who are in it almost purely for the money and those who would like to maintain some type of academics/athletics combination seems to be getting closer all the time. Wish someone out there would just have the balls to make the change instead of dragging it out over the next 20 years.

The courts will soon rule that athletes receiving scholarships are employees of the university. When that occurs the universities will be forced to either get out of athletics or come up with a way to avoid having the courts say the athletes are not university employees. It's not far off.

I don't see that.
The current legal mess is about antitrust, not employment law so much..

Let's just return to small college football and real student athletes It won't happen to those schools in P4 conferences and maybe more schools who will struggle onward with wannabe programs. I just hope the MAC is not in that latter group for too long.
Something like D3 is what is the only long term tenable situation for most FCS schools, but enough of them along with MAC and some other FBS schools will probably end up somewhere in between the big boys and current D3 schools.
Maybe 50 (shared) scholarships, with some kind of dollar cap, scheduling and recruiting restrictions and maybe with rule changes on the field or other restrictions that allow smaller staffs. The small time NIL will still be there for those schools but that really should be separate from the AD budget.

This is sensible, but where is the evidence that there is any sort of movement in this direction? I see none at all. Any sane person who looks at the situation immediately sees that MAC conf level "D1" football is a financial disaster, and a pathetic joke as well, but those who support its continuance have a rock-solid hustle in place to cover the losses. Who is going to stop this and how? I've been hearing this for years and have never seen the least sign of it actually happening.

Let’s make new recruiting rules. No scholarships. Pay enough cash to pay for tuition, room and board, training facilities and trainers, coaches/instructors, etc. Limit to fifty-five players. Regional scheduling. Can not player Power Four team. Let’s get it back to student athlete. Tired of hearing they “don’t get paid!” I spent four years of my life in the Navy to pay for my degree! I can’t get those four ears back.

However, the P4 is escalating the arms race so fast, and it is getting very difficult with budgeting at FCS and low FBS, which means that something will have to give. Sooner than later. The question is how long the MAC and FBS hold out.
It all hits the fan sometime after the next round of TV for the P4 conferences. Their expansion and the TV money will make them give up some of these pre conference games they now use to fill out season tickets. That now gives lower level teams those money games.(we'll see fewer of them). The pretense will be tough to hold on to when you can't get a game against a P4 school any more, and lose the revenue.
As for MAC TV, I cannot see ESPN or anybody else paying much for TV MACtion after the P4 realizes they can play night games too, make a lot of money with big match ups on week nights, plus pack their stadium in the process. Just like the NFL model.
