It was clear his foot and conditioning were never right.

Can't see post linked. What does it say?
That ends discussion we can improve much by tournament time. We've lost two players not recovering from injury who could have been keys to that.

Tough luck for the kid and the team. I had hopes he might develop to the point where he'd supplant Hendriks some, but those were just hopes. Might never have happened.
Considering what he was able to provide so far this year, we're not losing much statistically. A practice body and some depth.
Still have high hopes he'll be a really good player for us if healthy in years ahead.

Doughty Reinjures foot out for year will seek redshirt per his dads facebook Criteria for NCAA medical red-shirt: 1) Suffer an injury that is deemed season-ending. 2) Their injury must occur before the halfway point of the season 3) Not participate in more that 30% of the season's games. Doughty would qualify under points 1) and 2), but probably fall short on point 3). BSU has played 12 games thus far (8-4 record) and has 19 games remaining for 31 games during the regular season. Assuming 1 MAC tournament game that would be 32 games. 30% of 32 games is 9.6. Unfortunately Doughty has played in 10 games, thus exceeding the 30% rule. BSU would need to play in 3 MAC tourney games (I think that would mean reaching the championship game) to reach a 34 game season (30% of 34 = 10.2) and allow Doughty to qualify for a medical red-shirt; assuming there is no flexibility in the NCCA rules for this. Better hope the NCAA is flexible on the 30% rule as I can't see BSU reaching the MAC Tournament Championship game.

The NCAA has allowed A LOT of crazy redshirt/eligibility situations since COVID. There have been 8th year football players. If they don’t approve a RS year for Doughty it’ll be hypocritical.

OBVIOUSLY, losing a freshman averaging 7 minutes and 2 points a game makes any further improvement over the course of the season impossible.

I think the bigger loss currently is not having Brittain-Watts for the year but also missing Brown and now Doughty doesn't help what was already a thin bench. It's also not a good thing that we have carried Bell & the kid from Texas now for two years on the roster and neither is good enough to contribute anything. That's five scholarships. Mason Jones is good player but really the only Freshman who has been an impact player.
Lewis is going to need a whole lot more and better players in year three because this roster is not good enough or deep enough to compete for a title.

OBVIOUSLY, losing a freshman averaging 7 minutes and 2 points a game makes any further improvement over the course of the season impossible. He is a big guy with high upside. As a freshman recovering from injury most of us expected him to be a source of improvement. I know you are the eternal optimist about BSU BB, that's clouding your judgment about the impact of Watts and Doughty out.

I think Adams is a: not near ready to play (and more of an athlete than a basketball player right now ) and b: constantly fighting some kind of injury. Didn’t he have some sort of back injury? Maybe it’s recurring.
as far as Bell, he’s Uber athletic and has talent, but I don’t think he’s a system fit since we can’t play real well in an open floor, get the ball out and run style very well. He’s pretty helter skelter.
