As we sit in 10th place at 1-5, we need to go 7-5 to finish at 8-10. That would appear to get us in the back door of the tournament.
I was kind of surprised when I looked at the schedule that we have lost 6 of our last 7 and all three of our home conference games. Our last home W was on Dec. 10th against SIU Edwardsville.
I'm not much of a gambler but I haven't seen anything that would make me believe the light bulb will magically come on and we'll finish 7-5 or better. And for those who look at our schedule and say how putrid our upcoming opponents are, what do you think they say about us? Why are we somehow better than Buffalo or Northern or any of the directional up North?
We seem to be a team in turmoil who is constantly looking over their shoulder. That's not a winning posture.

I hate to say this, but is Lewis Tim Buckley.2? I really liked the hire and last year was so promising, but now I'm seeing guys sort of checking out and not buying into Lewis. They seem warn down and beat down, like Buck did to his teams (which he recognized way too late.) Obviously he's not happy with his roster, but, he built it, so it's on him. Of course I want him to be super successful and move up, but, man, it's not looking good right now. The Bob Knight style doesn't work these days unless you've got studs who can handle it. We do not have studs. We're good enough to win enough games to get to Cleveland, and bad enough to finish last. That's not how I envisioned this thing going in year 2. I know we lost A LOT of talent. Whit actually put together a really good core and Lewis won with it til they broke down/wore down. But he did not replace them effectively. I expect there will be quite a bit of turnover and the roster will look quite different. If not, Lewis isn't going to make it.

If we can't beat Miami and CMU at home, I'm not sure who we can beat. The fatigue isn't going to get any better, nor is the lack of talent. Anderson played all 45 minutes Saturday! The body language in the presser was not good. Guys are gonna start checking out if they haven't already.
Lewis is pissed off at everyone and is starting to act out like a toddler because of it. He has to stay focused on what he can control, which is his recruiting and leading his team.

If we can't beat Miami and CMU at home, I'm not sure who we can beat. The quick answer to that is Eastern, Northern and Western. As despondent as we may be, these teams are as bad or worse than us. Shame there's not a Southern in the MAC to provide another winnable home game.

I don't care how bad they are. We (the team) beat ourselves as much as other teams beat us. Maybe more.
This team will be remembered as the team that beat itself.

He's got a lot to learn.

Several of us here know the frustrations that arise working at BSU and you have to rise above. He's got a lot to learn. Scratch “BSU” and replace with “any large organization “ It's why managers in so many organizations have to be counselors and therapists with multiple talented key employees they can't really control. Coaches in high impact sports rarely are great team players in any athletic department. They rarely learn, either move up, get fired.
