Great talent, using it well. Like how he uses his big guy all over the court.
Good PG but really good passing game, too.

Yes, he does. Lorenzo Ball is a "one and done" for sure. A wonder how Duke and Kentucky couldn't land him.

Alford needs a really good season to quiet the natives. The Bruin faithful were screamin' for his head at the end of last year. He is loaded now and he better ''make hay while the sun shines''.

UCLA fans are spoiled rotten by their history. I don't feel sorry for them, just glad Alford is getting a chance and making a ton of money.

Bring 'em to Muncie. All of New Castle will show up and we'll finally sell out Worthen.

New Castle would show up for Alford, and IU fans from his time there, but the locals would be at their bingo game or something, students never heard of him, or many of the stars. But. If the stars showed up we'd get people from Indy!

When Alford came in with Manchester the crowd was 9k. Didn't sell out. Ucla would probably sell out.
I was told (but don't know how true it was) we offered the job to Alford when Ray was hired but the timing wasn't right for him as he hadn't been there long. He didn't feel it would have been right to bail on them right away.

You are right. That was an interesting choice. Wonder if we would have had the same players, different coaching philosophy and personality. Steve had greater regional and national rep, might have had some advantages, but then Ray sure had charm and local connection.
Would we have had or kept Bonzi?
History would have been differet. Alford refusing the chance very old school. Another change in college basketball, coach and player loyalty!

Alford has also gotten commitment from Lonzo Ball's two younger brothers.
