This year is officially the worst. Add Carrie Fisher to the list of people who this year took from us and it's pretty clear, 2016 hates everyone!

My condolences to the various celebrities who have died in the last 12 months, but given that they lived, by and large, lives of immense wealth and good fortune, I'm not going to write off the entire year on their behalf. Personally, I found the news in 2016 to be a distinct improvement over the immediately preceding years.

I have lived my entire life as a Chicago Cub fan and getting to watch them win the world series will be hard to tarnish. An added plus happened in 2016 that will be realized on January 20, 2017; it is the cherry on the sundae.
