"The age of consent in Indiana is 16. However, Indiana has a "Romeo and Juliet law" that permits 14 and 15 year olds to engage in non-forced sexual activity with peers who are no more than 4 years older than themselves."
I am baffled why that first guy was even arrested.

I don't think I agree with 18 year olds being able to go after 14 year olds. Who is able think responsibly in that situation? The 14 year old is too young (although possible able to become pregnant), and an 18 year old who is chasing 14 year olds is probably not the most mature and stable personality.
Reminds me of the movie "Badlands" which is a great movie but a disturbing situation.

Although this forum certainly creates close personal relationships, maybe the lawmakers see an "ongoing personal relationship" requires more than internet chat room contact?
"It is a defense to a prosecution under this section if all the following apply:
(1) The person is not more than four (4) years older than the victim.
(2) The relationship between the person and the victim was a dating relationship or an ongoing personal relationship. The term “ongoing personal relationship” does not include a family relationship."

It may also have something to do with a probation condition from a prior offense.
