Health building not going to cost as much as planned..

Run on down to Indy and ask legislators what they would think about that...

But, the extra authority to borrow money might help with the cost overrun and with replacing Cooper Science.

Coming in under budget not always so good.

The Whitinger Bldg was low budget, 7 mil. We built it for 6 mil and had the mil to add equipment. Sounds good.

But the damn building was never completed according to original specs, had cardboard walls, and was full of more problems inside 10 years. I wish the budget had included everything originally in plans, had been 10 mil... and we spent 11.

We'll be spending a lot of money on renovation of Whitinger and could have spent more money originally and it would have been well spent.

I spent a lot of time on fund raising and planning. There was a lot of opposition to spending on the Business school, a conviction BSU should not hire and spend what was needed to obtain accreditation.

Students benefitted and the University moved on from that. Surprised that attitude is still around.

Every building project since then was better built, though. And much more expensive
