We couldn't even stop Jordan Lynch when we had Jonathan Newsome! Seems to me that most of Illinois fan base is pretty over confident for this game. They forget they would probably struggle winning the MAC. that attempted tackle still haunts me

He tried to throw Lynch rather than just wrap him and drop him. Then another LB came in and knocked Lynch lose rather than tackle. Sigh. A play that will forever haunt.

Was getting my car serviced at Cooper this afternoon, so I had the pleasure of thumbing through out jam-packed local newspaper. I'm not entirely convinced that anyone over there is aware of college football's start. Not a single mention of being 24 hours away from Ball State's season opener.
Just pathetic in so many ways.

Good point. Although. OTOH, it is chicken and egg. How many readers care?
It's a vicious circle.

Yea I do not think we can expect much of anything from the star press except for after game articles. There are a ton of new articles out there today from other sources though

I think the Athlon game prediction is fair. I have it 20-24 in favor of the bad guys. I hope I'm wrong but close ones often went the other way last year.

Since turnovers and failure to make the big play when it's there are the problems for weaker teams, and both teams here are young and bound to be a bit dumb, the margin is pretty hard to call. It's probably a touchdown difference, but wide variation around that is pretty likely.
Good for us in this one, where we are dogs.

That play changed the entire dynamic of the game, he was trying to prove a point by throwing Lynch. The point would of been made with basic tackle skills and stopping him. That play still haunts me too.

That play is almost up there with the Nate Davis fumble returned for touchdown in Detroit. Really that whole second half was a nightmare. Hoping for more positive moments in the future.

I have to go to the lines on both offense and defense. If we protect Neal and give Glbert a chance along with penetration on defense with win. If not...

No idea what to expect from this crew. So much youth. So many questions. Do we have A QB? Do we have any kind of a defense? Obviously I want to win, but at minimum I want to see sharp execution and evidence that the program is progressing. As bad as Illinois has been they still have big 10 athletes and a proven head coach (at the NFL level). Let's just at least give ourselves a chance today and not participate in the foot shooting we have been the last few years.

Their qb is bigger than 99% of our defense....
