For the second straight postseason fans in Chicago are questioning some of Joe Maddon's decisions. Last year he won the World Series so, while his decisions were questioned, fans gave him a pass more or less. If the Cubs lose on Thursday, I'm not as certain that fans will do the same.
I'm not calling for his job, I think he's a hell of a manager, he was a part of something that hadn't been done in a century, and that's gotta count for something. I will, however, do some second-guessing (easy to do when the pressure isn't on me to make all the right calls or be crucified like Joe Girardi was after Game 2 in NY).

Quotes from the late Sparky Anderson: "A baseball manager is a necessary evil". "Baseball is a simple game. If you have good players and if you keep them in the right frame of mind, then the manager is a success". "I don't believe a manager ever won a pennant. Casey Stengel won all those pennants with the Yankees. How many did he win with the Boston Braves and Mets? I've never seen a team win a pennant without players. I think the only thing the manager has to do is keep things within certain boundaries". Full disclosure, as a lifelong Reds fan, anytime the Cubs or Yankees lose, it's a good day .

On the whole, I agree with every one of those quotes.

Yogi Berra's quotes are much more interesting. That's only because he was drunk for 150% of them!

I could careless between Cubs and Nationals, but I cringed when Lester came out. The game went into slow motion with what seemed to be MINUTES between each pitch.
