Home stretch summary:
With 2 weeks left in regular season, Cards are tied with Western in the west and in a 4-way tie for 3rd best record in conference.
Will be difficult to do better than 3rd seed.
Thursday at home, then last 3 matches on road. Final match is against Western and will be on ESPN3.

Cards win 3-0 over Akron. Western lost last night.
BSU goes into final weekend with a lead in the West.
3rd seed in tournament is probably best we can hope for. We are 9-5, both Miami and BG are 10-3 going into today’s matches.
cards have second best overall record at 17-10 with Miami @ 18-8

AMAZING win in the third set against Akron. Down 16-24 they battled back against all odds and won 29-27. Who does that? Fun to watch but tough on the system. I thought the Cards was short for Cardinals but is turning out to be the Cardiacs.

Cards come back and take last two sets to win. Finish 19-10 overall and 11-5 in MAC, MAC west champs.
Win last 5 MAC matches and lock up 3rd seed.

You just can't count out the Cards in any match lately. Down 0-1 in both matches against NIU and WMU and they find a way to battle back and establish themselves as the outright West Champs. Could've sat back and coasted with the starting setter going out unexpectedly, but Ali stepped in and kept the momentum going. It was evident the Cards had no intention of laying low to finish out the regular season. You never know where the next kill is coming from with solid defense and every front row player attacking relentlessly. Great job ladies!! |
