Ball state is a 2 point favorite Since we're at home I basically view that as them being favored. The roaring, jeering, belligerent crowd of 11,500 will be what puts us over the top.

Our schedule sure has not turned out to be so daunting. Looking over KenPom and Sagarin our Schedule strength has dropped to around 190 compared to Buffalo's 70. The teams that Buffalo have played are a combined 54 games over 500 compared to our schedule where the teams we have played are a minus 20 under 500. Buffalo has played 6 teams in the top 100 and we have played 4. Buffalo is 1-5 in those games losing by an average spread of 8 points or a score of 83-75. We are 1-3 in our top 100 games losing by a spread of 17 points or a score of 90-73. This obviously does not mean much other than our schedule really has not been that difficult other than the travel. This game concerns me as I believe that Trey is going to have to score some points to take pressure off of our wings and guards. Buffalo has the athletes to guard us tight without getting beat off of the dribble. Our inside guys have to establish the paint to allow our shooters some space and our guards have to be able to attack and get into the lane and draw some fouls. Offensive rebounds are going to be tough to come by so we have to take care of each possession and not turn it over and take ill-advised shots. I am not saying we can't win this game but it is going to be very difficult.

They killed us in Muncie last year. Was that the game where they had 2 or 3 dudes throwing down sick jams in warmups and half our team was just standing in awe watching them? That pissed me off big time.

I am not sure what to think but it seems as if Persons plays much better against man to man defense. If Buffallo plays us straight up I think Persons can have a big game.

reevo nails the part about avoiding turnovers.
To me another key is to attack them, even if we can't beat them on the dribble we need to drive, try to get to the line. Even if they are athletic we have to challenge them.
On defense I'm worried about second chances, interesting to see whether we send everyone to boards or try to release to get out on break.

Their fans seemed to be concerned with the defense (lack thereof) that the Bulls play.

slow down game, keep score in 60s, involve moses down low until he fouls out, we win game Very hard to slow the game down against good athletes, they turn you over and get out and run, then get back and wait on you to do it again... It's paradoxical, but it may be a case where our forcing the pace is the best chance to score efficiently. THAT scoring efficiency, along with getting to the line, means we can get back after baskets, and set up defense, not let them run on us. We don't have to win the foot race and get break away baskets, but we need to get good looks before they can get back, get matched up. Oh, and we need to hit the shots. This may be where if we have an edge in depth anywhere it is at guard now's the time to use it. We aren't going to out muscle them inside, we have to score inside on good interior passing, some second shots when they go after the block and on the drive into the lane. Constantly make their high scoring guards play defense. I go with reevo's prescription. I fear slow down as you suggest won't work if it is mostly trying to hold the ball, cautiously try to explore for shots. If it is to work at all, it demands a very exacting error free game passing the ball against high pressure athletic defense, but even then it has to involve aggressive attacking inside on the drive and getting to the line. We need to score outside too, but won't do that with a return to Billy ball firing up a 3 as the clock runs down.

Massinburg and Clark average 41 a game between them. Their other two guards Jordan and Caruthers average 20 although one is hurt. They have the advantage at guard.

We have to make their guards work on defense for us to win. Wear them down and might get then to the bench with fouls. If they get to stand around on defense or if we allow them to just play outside they will get into the passing lanes against us and we're in deep trouble.

You said we have an edge in depth at guard and I contend they are deeper and better than us in the backcourt. I think we need to exploit inside with our trio of Moses, Teague and Mallers.
