Good W. The Jeremie Tyler we’ve always expected showed up and man did we need it. He really ought to be starting, or even if off the bench, take most of Kiapway’s minutes. Got hammered on the boards again. That’s not so good.
Kent beat WMU. Kent is 9-9. So we Clearly were not ready to play vs wmu. We go to Miami next and it will not be easy. Miami is much improved and we need to have to same balanced scoring from the same guys as tonite. And rebound better. Tyler cannot disappear now.

A close game but a win in any case. Gotta win a bunch more to be more than an also ran. No time to rest after the conference schedule starts.

I have a confession. I overslept on my nap and had to watch it from home. Somehow that guaranteed victory.

No. Starting is the death knell. It would just be the prelude to him doing something stupid enough to be suspended again.

Doubt we win this one without him though...gave us just enough tonight. I was worried. We've seen past teams lose this kind of game too often. Not celebrating greatly, but it's a win we needed.

I’m convinced......still......that the starting 5 is wrong.
Nice to get a win, but Central isn’t good or deep. Their big guy kept them close. We need to be better to beat good teams. Miami on the road will be a good indicator.
oh, and microwaved taco meat over Fritos in a foil pouch can NOT be good and can not be worth 4 pesos.

Love the win, nice balance play all around and great ball moment. We are not good enough to put teams away like we've been put away by Buffalo and WMU. Press really wore us out and I couldn't understand why on the press when we brought the ball up and had numbers Trey was never really in position to score underneath the basket? Seems like we missed a ton of points on those breaks by not scorning quickly on the press break. We missed a lot of buckets in the first half and felt like we should have been up by 15 but obviously weren't. MAC is tough and we protected home court so at the end of the day that's all we can ask for. Lastly that 6'11 kid hitting the three ball was mind numbing!

Not sure why Tyler didn't start the 2nd half since Kiapway has been bad today. I know that the coaching staff likes him off the bench but good grief he's been better than Kiapway all year in my opinion. This game has widened that talent gap between the two. Also, I know that Trey is a very good passer, but he could be so much better if he didn't put the ball over his head every time he catches it. That's his first move. When he does that and get bodied up by another player, it puts him off balance way too easy. That play where he got bumped and just "fell" out of bounds was the epitome of his softness this year. Catch the ball in triple-threat position and go score on this Luke Meyer chump! francis has been bad all season

Press really wore us out and I couldn't understand why on the press when we brought the ball up and had numbers Trey was never really in position to score underneath the basket? Seems like we missed a ton of points on those breaks by not scorning quickly on the press break. Because Trey can't finish and even if they fouled him, he can't hit free throws consistently. The more I watched Trey crumple to the ground with virtually any type of contact tonight, the more I thought about another discussion on these boards regarding our strength and conditioning for basketball. Trey just looks extremely weak, particularly in the hips and core. He's not athletic by any means, but I think an appropriate strength and conditioning program for his hips and core might do wonders for his ability to be less of a rag doll around the basket.

Tyler coming off the bench is the spark from the bench. I don’t think it matters who starts because the Cards are so balanced. Nice to see Sellers playing at a high level all 3 seniors combined 37 points. Go Cards!

Failing to attack the rim on the press and making them pay for pressing speaks to coaching and prep. I like whit. He’s done some really good things. But, I can’t help but think something is missing. Good teams, well coached teams, take advantage of opportunities like scoring off the press and making teams pay. We never seem to really be in attack mode and are on our heels and defensive quite a bit. From day 1 whits teams have not handled pressure well. We are veteran enough we should be finding ways to exploit it rather than just trying to get the ball across mid court and then setting up. We can’t put teams away because of that and because we lack killer instinct. We get a lead, get sloppy, get stagnant and poof leads evaporate. Or we don’t extend leads. As others have said, the rotations seem strange sometimes too. I guess I’m saying that in year 5, with a veteran team, I’m expecting more. Especially in terms of consistency. Buffalo is just drilling teams. I want that. :-).

So Whitford says publicly after the Western game that he wants Teague to shoot the 3 ...
And yet tonight, Teague curiously takes no 3s.
I'm going to doubt that Teague is reading this message board and taking our advice to heart. Rather, I suspect what the coach says publicly and what he tells the team privately ain't quite the same thing.
