Seniors normally play with passion and fire! They are generally leaders and somewhat vocal!!
They generally play every game like its their last.
Usually statistically they get better every season over their career!
I believe Sellers was giving us more as a Freshman although his contributions are overall probably best of the three this season. Tyler plays well then takes a game or two off albeit his shooting peecentags are pretty good!
And, I love Kip but he seems to have lost his offensive confidence and is likely shooting his lowest FG percentage in 4 years!
Sad to a degree to see seniors to a large extent digress over their career.
Whit should not need to kick a seniors ass they should kick their own booty

I don't want to turn this into a "my generation could beat up your generation" argument, but I think a lot of kids these days are passive (I blame technology for turning them into zombies, but that's another discussion). A lot of kids don't want to be physical, aggressive and fiery because it's not cool to care about a game that much. Looking cool and looking like you don't care is what most kids want to be now.
There are still plenty of junkyard dogs out there if you know where to look, but that involves recruiting, something our current coach seems to struggle with.
It's also a matter of culture. Some programs get tough-nosed kids because they just do, and their program breeds success. Our program used to have that, but went away from it about 15 years ago and hasn't reversed course.

A lot of kids don't want to be physical, aggressive and fiery because it's not cool to care about a game that much. Being masculine is also frowned upon these days. Sad times we live in, when society neuters men because we're "too aggressive and violent." And because apparently having the gall to compliment a woman on her looks is enough to get you accused of a hate crime. Millennials are technology-neutered wimps. Get used to it.

I don't want to turn this into a "my generation could beat up your generation" argument, but I think a lot of kids these days are passive ..... a matter of culture. Some programs get tough-nosed kids because they just do, and their program breeds success. Our program used to have that, but went away from it about 15 years ago and hasn't reversed course. I'm buying recruiting changed, mostly in the whole culture of HS and AAU and lack of discipline which once made kick ass coaches more common and able to function at every level. Kick ass coach means you get kick ass culture there. Much less common now, I think. Few BB coaches who coach like FB... Try that discipline now, even in HS, and it takes a toll on the coach and of course we see kids shopping themselves from middle school on, rarely I think looking for a "tough" program. I don't agree entirely about "culture" and technology and cool in college, it may have more to do with the current players having to meet more requirements and scrutiny off the court in admissions at our level than ever before. That screens more tough kids from the playground where they get a college chance because the tough coach who wants to create that culture. Some of that is good, but a negative may be that the two things, pampered stars, and coaches who have to be less discipline oriented make it very hard to find the tough kid in the first place (why ever have to be tough?) and to treat him tough and bring that out under control.

I understand your point and mostly agree, but with exception of Sellers. As a freshman he was mostly a scorer-a much needed scorer on a bad team. As a senior he is less of a scorer but a much more complete player. Yesterday he had 10 rebounds. He's more aggressive now and more willing to mix it up. He will occasionally drove the lane. He's playing with more emotion as a senior. I like his play as a senior.

I may agree with your point on Sellers overall but he seems to be emotionless. May just be his personality but I like to see a bit more fire

He is doing it his way. Hard worker, has desire, but just not the fiery personality. Showed depth of emotion, desire after ND game, not so much fire in the game, but his play showed his focus.

I just want to know if all three of these guys are going to bring it the rest of the season each and every game. I will say the only one of the three that has shown any consistency is Sellers.

Who knows? Every game I don't need. We'd love it, but if we are to be successful we have to have one or two play well in most games. If they save it for the MAC tourney, it could be the difference then, and we would probably celebrate that, but with Walker gone, we need a guard to step up every game. Ish is a freshman, we can't expect too much from him.
