I don't know, but I thought the first XFL was loads of fun to watch.

McMahon sees an opportunity, and by God, He's going after it. This strikes me as sort of a Canadian Football League for the USA, in 2001 he targeted big TV markets, tried to share the big media market with the NFL. Didn't work that well. Sounds like smaller markets might be in play this time. Not so much wrestling hype, showgirls on the sidelines and so on. How interested is America in watching the guys who didn't make the league?

The thing I found most interesting from the initial presser was that any individual that has a criminal record, even something as low-key as a DUI, will be precluded from playing in the league. I'll be curious to see if at any point that rule is loosened to include minor offenses.

I'll be curious to see if at any point that rule is loosened to include minor offenses. It will make a good chunk of talent ineligible. If NFL is "not for long" due to injury and competition, this league will have another significant risk factor for attrition after finding 40 players. Even church league would have a hard time fielding a team all season without some brush with the law. And then the off season... The Catholic Church can't keep their roster active, I am wondering how his holiness Vince McMahon will do it with 20 something football players who just signed a new pro contract.

It won't be hard at all to field a team of non-criminals. Most people aren't criminals.
We've become de-sensitized to having convicted thieves and violent offenders and such on our sports teams, but it doesn't necessarily have to be that way. All pro leagues should consider something like this. Of course you're reducing your talent poll to a certain extent, but so what? I think it would be a good thing if young men knew that stealing and assaulting people would eliminate any future pro sports career.

Well it's not just thieving and really violent offenders that Vince makes the limits of his rule. I'd say its more the substance abuse, reckless driving, and basically not that serious a level of violent offenses by barroom brawlers and bullies who have spent their life being aggressive. I don't see young athletes who get a lot of reward for aggression, ego, and violence on the field and also get the benefit of the doubt for years in HS and college when it is off the field will find avoiding trouble as pros so easily.
