"Through its first six games Ball State men’s basketball is 2-4, but no one on the Cardinals seems too concerned."

Basically we needed to have beaten Dayton and bucknell when we had the chance. Yes. Early injury to Moses was costly. Now the late developments at guard. Both required us to change approach, hard to play really well under those circumstances. I think this big lineup used more, more inside game but also much better shooting and perimeter play at guard were the plan all along. We have not had that combination at the sweet spot in a game. The chance for a MAC tourney success story was always that we could put the hammer down at the end of the season and bring all that together at the right time. This year was never a year where we had so much talent or size that we could afford being short handed or count on beating good big teams inside, but playing very hard and shooting well, with a depth advantage at guard, we had decent chances. Now it appears we can win some games, are still dangerous, but just don't have as much firepower, depth or versatility to meet our most optimistic level of success. That level would require everyone to play their absolute best, and that we avoid fouls, running into a big team that plays well. That's a very long shot, no margin for error or more injury or other difficulty.
