Well, that’s admirable of Francis. But it still would have been nice if whit could have given him a few minutes on senior night, especially the way our guards were not playing well that night, plus Tayler could have used a couple minutes rest. Regardless, Francis has handled this year in a first class manner.

Kip is a Class Act....I call him " Money " and he's still that to me.....maybe if he plays against Kent and knocks down one early it will provide him the opportunity for a good tournament.

He doesn't mention his injury either which had hobbled him and took away from his ability to play D.
Take away the shooting and even a fraction of a step, I understand the player evaluation part of the decision. His strengths were never as a great ball handler or skill on the pick and roll which are now more important. He was a shooter and a guy who played very hard on defense.
I wanted him to be recognized for his career. Sounds like not doing that was more his wishes than we probably have thought.

Francis has definitely become “a man”!
Great article and he will go far in life with that kind of attitude.
I wish him the best in the rest of the season and for everything else he will do.

Francis fell on his sword and has handled this with class. Whitford is an ass as far as I’m concerned. The article says Whitford “wrestled” with how to handle it and never made a decision. That is chickenshit. Freaking start your senior who you admit hadn’t done anything wrong or broken any rules. Play him til the first media timeout and then go back to your regular rotation. That’s what every coach at every level would have done. He talked about his shooting slump as an issue. What about Teague and Gunn both going 2-forever while they were struggling from the field? Teague was 1-20 at one point and Gun was 1-15 or something close to that.
To to be clear, I’m not comparing Kips ability or value to Teague. And I get that Gunn is necessary to play from a depth standpoint on the frontline. My point is one of class and just doing the right thing. That was a clown move by our coach and it cost him some respect in my view.

I hope he gets his chance in the tournament. I've just got a feeling about Francis.

I'm not trying to attack Kiapway here, but does this quote kind of bother anyone else?
"When asked if it was hard for him to not play at all on Senior Night, Kiapway answers, "Nah." When asked if it has been hard for him to keep working through his struggles while getting benched during his senior season, Kiapway has a similar answer.
"Nah," he says. "This thing, this ain’t nothing. I’ve been through so much in my life. This ain’t nothing. These couple months of me not playing basketball well when it’s time to perform, it’s not really something that’s going to make or break me."
I mean, I don't expect him to attack his coach in the press, but something like "I'd like to play, but I'll do whatever helps the team win, even if it means taking a seat." To me, it just came off as a guy who doesn't care if he plays or not. I guess "nah" is a pretty good description of BSU basketball these days. "Nah, I don't care. It's nothing. This is fine. We're fine." etc.
Whitford's indecisiveness shows what a spineless sissy he is, but most of us already knew that.

I'm not trying to attack Kiapway here, but does this quote kind of bother anyone else? ... I understood it to mean that Francis Kiapway is a young man who's got his priorities in order, and who is blessed with the gift of perspective. That's about it. But I sure as hell agree with this: "Whitford's indecisiveness shows what a spineless sissy he is, but most of us already knew that." How could you NOT start him on Senior Night? File that under "It's The Right Freaking Thing To Do". Good lord.
